No more bugs PLEASE!!

I just thought to share this with you all....

I might be a little anal with my car or something... but after I spend quite a bit of time washing and waxing my 8 and making it shine like no other car on the block.... I go drive it...... and when I get back home......FULL OF BUGS ON THE FRONT OF THE CAR  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

6steelstrings 06-20-2006 07:33 PM

where do you live? midwest?

beachdog 06-20-2006 08:21 PM

real bugs. thought this was going to be another flash thread.

get used to it. the car is low right where a lot of the nastiest, most acidic bugs fly. clean them right away or you'll have lots of chips where the bugs hit.

Im_DANomite 06-20-2006 08:23 PM

clay bar often my friend.

NgoRX8 06-20-2006 08:28 PM

wash it everyday lol

RedLineShinka 06-20-2006 11:09 PM

OR.. if you're as retarded as me... carry a spray bottle of "Instant Finisher" and a couple terry towels... in the trunk along with that Qt of oil, and my California duster.... OMG I pay way too much attention to my car... hahaha!

Tell me about it. I can't stand dirty wheels. Drives me nuts.

Ohio is home of all the bugs you could want....and eternally more. I know that when I first got the Cobra 2 years ago, i would wash the front to get ALL those bugs off after EVERY drive at nite...but that got old quick.

As someone else said, just get used to it, cause it's inevitable...the only way to prevent it, per say, would be to to either wash them off everyday (either wash, or something like meguirs quick-detailer), or just get used to them between washes.

Good luck, and welcome to the midwest :peace:

Try a very light coating of "Pam" on your front on your car.

SayNoToPistons 06-21-2006 10:42 AM

^ the paint will soak it in and cause premature damage and discoloring...

well.. wash it clay it :)

DOMINION 06-21-2006 11:05 AM

dmc27 06-21-2006 11:10 AM

Here in Alabama we have some of the juiciest bugs that you'll ever see (and hopefully never taste, leave that to the bikers).

I've been resigned over the years to just let them pile up and wash them off weekly, but of course that was before I got my 8.

I've been using the ICE products on my car and I have to say that it takes two minutes to clean all the bug guts off the front end and then spray a new coat of instant detailer on to prepare to do battle again the next day. Very slick...literally.

my front is somewhat flat so the if i ever go on the freeway, i will see something on my bumper after. good thing i have a clear bra so its easy off.

matis 06-24-2006 02:33 PM

Well if I drive exactly 60 miles per hour, then I bugs won't stick to front of my car, but when I drive 140mph for 10 miles, then whole front is full of bugs. There is nothing you can do, simply wash your car often enough, so the front licence plate would remain readable :)
