on the P/S requests though, i beg to differ. some people aren't as technologically inclined as some, therefore it really shouldn't be a reason to bash the user, just because he doesn't know how use photoshop.

but i do agree, some of the "older" members here are quite bashful on new members, them become quick to judge when they say they have an AT. its not a bad thing to tell them that MT is more fun, but some go a little further than that... seems kind of degrading.

big hint..

There are 2 kinds of posts/threads that get flamed. The first kind is a noob who asks questions without searching. Getting flamed for not searching is legitimate. Whatever keyword or phrase you search for, you're going to get a lot of "trash." You simply work your way through everything until you cull the trash and glean what you need. Getting trash is no excuse not to search, imo.

On the other hand, the second kind of thing that gets flamed is when a bunch of people are already engaging in a productive thread but then a noob makes a naive/erroneous/unpopular comment and gets flamed. Typically, veterans with a lot of clout jump on the guy first followed by other veterans of lesser clout who are exactly that: followers. Noobies and other members just have to understand and accept that veterans with a lot of clout (i.e., those with a lot of technical and/or industry knowledge) are virtually untouchable. While it's true that within certain individual threads, their bad behavior outweighs their contribution, these vets' contributions on the whole are indispensable. They aren't going anywhere and the mods will not ban them.

Forums are socio-cultural contexts. Their rules are not black and white, not always consistent but fluid. I'm still sympathetic for the unwary newcomer who comes in here (and other forums) and runs into some of these mercurial veterans and feels compelled to go at it with them out of self-defense. It's with this latter example that I feel the OP's sentiments lie.

Technically inclined??? hahah they're on here, so they know how to use the internet. They have eyes, fingers and a mouse so they've got the technical side down, they are just being lazy, there are a **** ton of pictures of everything you can think of on an 8 here, I have yet to see a PS request that is unique what so ever.

As for your last point, degrading is what is happening to this forum because newbs are becoming ever more lazy, the wealth of knowledge here is becoming whitewashed with useless and a horrible amount of pointless threads, thats why the search function is so hard to use.
