Hi,
New to the forum. Just purchased a 2004 RX8, sport package, 6spd, black, nav, stock with 39,500 miles. I had it checked out at the local Mazda dealer (who also happened to do all the service for the previous owner). They gave it the green light. I'll post a couple pics. The BMW dealership I bought it from detailed it but I am in the process of taking the rotary buffer and some Tricutt II to the vehicle. I have done the trunk lid and a few other panels and its turning out great. All scratches and swirls are coming out. Black is great when its clean. I paid $13,750 for the vehicle. I think that it was a pretty good deal, but I'm sure you guys will let me know if it wasn't. Nice to be here.

Welcome. Car looks good, clean. Make sure you check the TSB's and find a good Mazda dealership to take it to. It makes a big difference if you have a good service dept. There is a lot of good info on the site to check out. Enjoy the ride.

The dealership that checked it out before I bought it happened to do all the service for the owner that traded it in to the BMW dealership. They showed me the entire service record for the vehicle. All recalls/TSB's had been addressed except for the latest reflash that came out in March. I had them do that right after I purchased the vehicle. The service rep. at the Mazda dealership was pretty knowledgable. He filled me in on most of the FAQ type info I found on the forum (not turning it off cold, rev past 7500 every once and a while, etc.). The only thing he did not tell me, and something I found very interesting, was adding the oil to the fuel occasionally. It sounds like I'm driving my grass trimmer or leaf blower:lol: . Is there a particular premix brand that everyone swears by?

Premix has been discussed in depth on here from both the pros and the cons sides. I don't use premix so I can't say one way or another but I think you will find all the info you need right here. Good luck.

Premixing isn't NEEDED, just some people feel it wouldn't hurt to get some more oil in the chamber. I don't see a problem with it. I don't do it since I'm too lazy to do it every fill up :lol2:

A lot of people recommend Idemitsu Racing Oil for premix, in both the RX-8's and the RX-7's. It's the one I seen circulated the most, so I assume it can't be bad! But I also hear there is no real difference in one or another.
