new rx8 owner need advice , tips :D

2 Attachment(s)
hey guys i just bought this rx8 about 2months ago
and just need some tips and advice on what i should do to it
i believe its a gt series 2 2008 model but could be wrong

Priority 1) Take care of it. A well maintained 8 will give you far more pleasure and forum respect than a poorly maintained modified one.
Priority 2) Mod you, the driver. $1,100 can get you a cheap set of shocks and springs that will last a few years, or it can get you 3 days of Skip Barber Mazda Driving lessons that will last the rest of your life.

Quick and easy, and also free, go to the top of the RX8 Discussion subforum and read my new owner's thread.

And that's a 2009 or 2010, Series 2, R3 trim. Not GT. The VIN gives you the exact information if you run it through an online VIN lookup tool.

thanks for the info
just wondering if anyone can give me some advice
on little things that dont cost to much
that i can do to the car to improve the performance of my 8 ?

fuztupnz 02-14-2012 09:00 AM

The best thing you can do is some research. Read the thread mentioned above. Also read all of the stickies (top of every section and says sticky)

Not to sound mean, but how do you buy a car and not know what year it is?

Roidz 02-14-2012 05:14 PM

Car looks good. I love that color, but read, read, read.

jacobrx8 02-15-2012 05:34 AM

yeah it was kind of a rushed decision i just love the look of it
it also came with the spoiler (not mounted) but what you guys think?
should i keep the stock rims or change them for some nice chrome ones
lemme know what you think, also any photos of the same car with nice mods
so i can see what it looks like tried looking on the net couldn't seem to find to many

thanks guys

There's a mulitmedia/photo forum on this site, and also a member's photo gallery. You should find photos of pretty much every possibility.

If you're gonna go chrome, i'll give you $500 for your stock wheels :)

slvrstreak 02-15-2012 07:50 AM

thats a good deal but only if the tires are new

definitely steer clear from chrome rims unless you wanna look like a wannabe rapper and destroy the handling of your car, chrome wheels are heavy. One of the reasons the rx8 is such a great sports car is due to its weight. have a look in the wheels forum for ideas, and just generally have a browse on here. ive come from the euro scene so ilove the look of all the bbs wheels. volks, ssr, advan etc are all good japanese sports car wheels.

Do a little research about the R3 first before you do anything else. You may be pleasantly surprised to know have have a pretty rare car as it is. You must have gotten a hellagood deal to put the money up for an R3 without even knowing it.

monchie 02-15-2012 09:39 PM

My favorite color and congrats with the purchase. Anyway, what others already have said...read the stickies and follow the procedures. Good luck and enjoy the ride.

gotta love when you read a response like this, then look to the left at the name and realize wtf is actually going on lol :Freak_ani

fuztupnz 02-15-2012 09:47 PM

You were surprised that I came up with something that brilliant weren't you?

Are-Ex-Eight 02-15-2012 10:15 PM

Interior pics please. I find it odd that the spoiler was not mounted. They are factory installed on R3's.

YaXMaN 02-15-2012 11:07 PM

How do you get through the buying/financing process without knowing what year or model your own car is? You have to tell the bank exactly what it is to secure the loan... title it, get insurance on it. You're relaying that information every step, and probably saying it in your sleep by the time it's all said and done.

You stole it, didn't you.

No emblems... look at the pics again. The owner had the trunk lid holes filled and then had the trunk repainted.

I'm a fan of the spoilerless look.

When i Purchased my Rx8 it didn't come with a owners manual or anything, any ideas on where i can get one?

Oh wow. He knows what year his car is. See? Outstanding. Wouldn't it be great if everybody knew that?

Congrats! I looked for one of those in that color, but never found the right deal.

Anyway, here's my opinion to your questions:

1. Oh boy, buying a car in a rush is NEVER a good idea:scratchhe You really need time to research the car you are buying, financing options, insurance, etc.

2. It is VERY odd that it came with the spoiler unmounted. That was a factory option from factory for all R3s.

3. In regards the wheels, KEEP them!! Those R3 wheels are quite coveted around here. If you decide to go aftermarket, then sell them here. You WILL find a buyer from this forum, and you can make some decent money for the.

LOL.

But so true. Well, he said he bought the car in a rush. I'm sure lots of surprises will come down his way soon:Freak_ani

True!!

I like the spoiler-less look in some cars. But with the R3 it looks a bit odd - to me - because it already has all the other body kit parts:scratchhe

Man, you really rushed into buying that car! Not even an owner's manual!

If you cannot find somebody to sell you one here, try ebay. Those manuals can be quite expensive.
