New RX8 Owner

Alright, well I was car shopping the past few weeks and was debating on the Saturn Sky or a few other cars, when I went to a dealership in Toms River, NJ and stumbled on two RX8s. Both 2004 both silver one Auto one Manual. I bought the Manual. I have a few questions, not sure where to post this, and I know i'll probably get shit for "not using the search button" but its 1:20 am and i'm tired.

The one I got was a used 2004 i'm assuming the baseline version 6spd with 30,000 miles on it.

Now my neighbor, a mechanic, told me to get him the VIN number so he could check the history of recalls and such on the one I bought. he got me the sheets and theres a few things listed under recalls with status of "Open" now if I go to the local Mazda Dealership (not where I bought the car from) will they fix the recalls or will they charge me for them? I did notice that the warrenty on the papers expires a year from now, but does the factory warrenty transfer from the original owner like it would at Saturn?

I'm new to the whole RX8 scene and Rotary engines, so please cut me a break. I've had the car for 3 days now, and love every minute of it. Loving the power and acceleration and just the plain old speed.

Recall that is listed as open is MSP16 Engine Lack Of Power. Is that something I should go get checked out? Or is it not that big of a deal. I don't think its got a lack of power, the car picks up quickly, and accelerates smoothly when i don't make an error with the clutch

Recalls are all free so it definitely doesn't hurt to get them corrected.

Influx of new owners recently.. I say welcome to all and PLEASE read and take care of the car.. last thing we need is more people complaining about the intricacies.

Welcome and congrats. Yes, any and all recalls are free while TSB's are usually only done for free under warranty. Warranty goes with the car no matter who owns it and the powertrain warranty on all RX-8's was extended to 100k miles or 8 years recently. With the MSP16 Engine Lack Of Power one you would have a noticeable power loss. Info on the MSP16 can be found here: https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-discussion-3/newly-revised-rx-8-service-bulletins-140702/

So i'll swing by the Mazda dealership tomarrow and have them check it out. Ironically my neighbor that lives across the street works in the service department there. Didn't know that till today. I'm also going to see how much its going to cost to order factory foglamps and such from them compaired to from mazdatrix. I should also have my K&N intake thursday since I had to order it.

Not too many places around here stock parts for the 8. Not too many of them around the Brick/Toms River area. Though I did spot one 8 today on Rt. 37
