Well I did it...! velocity red sport 6Mt with performance package...

It has been a month now and I LOVE it. Went from 15 years of Hondas (2civics then accord to this and WOW!)

I have started browsing this forum after I purchased it and it gave me a good scare...I mean I was ready for non-honda quality and squeeks and rattles but them engine replacements and trannies that go out so fast ...scarryy!!

Anyways, other then squeeks and rattles that come and go and abismal MPG (15MPg average on 5 tanks so far) everything is great. I do take care of it cheking the oil and being gentle with occasional spurts of beepp red line...

Love it and I wish I was a little less worried about it lasting a while....

Anyways this morning I did a few zooms on tye fwy to get away from some fools and it was wonderfull. And this afternoon a first ding on my windshield, Sh*&$!

See ya

Nice.

Like you this board almost scared me away but I have been loving my brilliant black for 6 weeks!

Somehow I also get a ding- but on my hood. :banghead:

Good work! Isn't the 8 amazing? I've got you beat on years of Honda...19. But for me it was all one Honda: an '87 Accord. Getting Zoomy was like being reborn.

Be careful browsing this forum. Great place, lots of really helpful folks. But the tales of woe can be scary if you're not calibrated to Internet opinions. A few years ago I almost did not buy a new TV because the on-line discussion boards firmly described every model as total junk.

Welcome and enjoy your 8! (As if it were possible to not enjoy one. ;) )

Welcome and enjoy! Don't worry about your 8.
You might actually be surprised with it's performance and reliability...

welcome! If the board didn't scare you away, then you have tough skin! Congrats on the purchase- spring is probably the best time to buy/drive an RX-8.

Congrats on the car and welcome to the forum!

Congrats, I also got my 6spd velocity red about a 3-4 weeks ago, and I never expected so many compliments. Some chick at work told me there were was a group of people staring at my car lookin inside and stuff, I was like really? Sweet! Definitely a head turner. All of my co-workers, friends and family are constantly giving me compliments, and asking me "hows the car?" I love the exhaust, the red and black interior, the Bose audio system, the lights inside and out, the 18'' wheels, big rotors + excellent stopping power, handling, and the way I see people staring in their rearview mirror more than staring straight ahead :) This car is perfect just the way she is, she doesn't need mods. And why does everyone complain about torque? This sucker can move! My only fear is the rubberband tires, and my wheels cracking. Michigans roads are the worst in the country, potholes and huge bumps EVERYWHERE. Anyone have their wheels crack?

WOOT! welcome to the cult!

Welcome, I too am an old Honda convert, 92 prelude. Still have her just in case. :wiggle: I was scared too after reading this forum but my Shinka hasn't given me any problems :knock on wood: I love the 8, you are at least down her in soulcal, I'm originally from here but stationed up in NorCal, you have a lot of RX-8 support down there in case something does happen to your car. It seems that this forum is very helpful and the members are very supportive, with your occasional flamers. May your 8 live long.
