New to RX8, but not to mazda

Hey guys, My name is Terrence, obviously im new here. Not New to mazda cars, but im new to the rx8. im looking to puchase my first rotary vehicle which is a 2004 Rx8 touring 6spd.

Im just looking for any input, advice, or help that i can get.

I HAD a 1995 Mazda Miata for an auto-x car, but i recently was in an accident and the car was totalled. I love mazda cars, thats why im pretty certain ill be purchasing an rx8 possibly as soon as this week.

Anyway, this place seems like it has TONS of useful info so ill DEF. utilize any and all info i can find to help me with my purchase and then with future mods/work on the car. Thanks in advance for having such an awesome community for rx8 owners/fans.

My suggestion is to have a dealer check the warranty history on the car. Make sure that all the TSB's have been done that need to be done. If at all possible try to get at least a 2005 model year. A few less issues for the consumer.

Hey guys, I've been doing some reading up on old threads and stuff on here. Seems like the most common failures or issues are just a chance happening, not something that will definitely happen to EVERY rx8. Which makes me that much more comfortable getting one. I'm pretty hardcore on standard and not standard maintenance on any car I own. However, I've never owned a rotary before. It should prove to be an interesting yet very fun investment. I start shopping today from work. Making calls about a few that I've found. I have VIN # for all models I'm looking at. I read somewhere on here also that the dealer will run VIN's for free to check that all new flashes are on that vehicle, is this true? Anyway, I'm posting this from my phone so I gotta jet and get into work. Thanks for the input. Later.

Ask for a warranty inspection report from a local dealer if you have the VIN's. Most good dealerships will print this for you no problem. It will show all warranty/TSB/recall work done by dealers since the car was born. Also will show all factory options that were installed when the car was originally sold.

Do i actually have to go to the dealer for that stuff, or can i just call them. i work alot and have very little free time during the week, so its sorta hard for me to get up to the dealership. anyway, thanks for all the input from everybody. that along with everything ive read on the forum has really helped educate me on details that would probably be otherwise unknown to me about this awesome car. ill be back on periodically and will have pics and what not posted as soon as i have my car. wish me luck!
