new motor

Well i got my car back today, had a new reman motor put in it. My question is that my car actually feels slower than my bad motor given the fact i need to put my mods back on the new one, is this normal? Ive read that new rennys are kinda tight and just need to loosen up a little.. How long should this take? Oh and i have not gone w.o.t throttle yet since i have only 100 miles on new motor. hopefully i get all the butt dyno power back i had b4. also i can smell like fresh oil smell when diving my car, no oil looks and level is fine so im thinking just spilt some oil somewhere or the renny does this new?

besides the nitrous the mods on ur sig wouldnt make ur car significantly faster than a stock rx8.. if ur new motor feels slower than maybe theres something up.. keep an eye on the new motor for a little bit theres plenty of threads on how the remans arent always good

not necessarly slow but my old renny seemed peppier, thats why i was wonder if its just kinda tight since its a new motor and needs to loosen up

Yeah, let it loosen up a bit, the older the faster.

yeah rotary motors just get better as they get older and more miles on them for the most part I'd give it 1000 miles or so and if it still feels right i'd go back to the dealer and see if there's something up!!

as they get older, they lose compression. You go slower.

My replacement was a new one and it was definately stronger than the old. In low RPM's it would pull in 5th & 6th so I didn't have to downshift to pass on the interstate. It just feels better in all gears though. Can't wait to dyno.

I assume that when you get a new motor the odometer mileage stays the same, right?

Yes.

My new engine was installed at 58,000 and I was told my warranty would not be extended past 60,000 even though it was new. Looks like I got a new engine at the end of my warranty and now, thanks to Mazda's new warranty policy, I'm extended to 100K! I'm a VERY happy camper.

100K miles on engine, everybody is happy.

Yea i think it pulls harder in 5th and sixth, but i dunno im waiting to get 500-1000 miles on it then ill start punishing her a little bit and see what she has then if everything seems ok ill start puttin my mods back on then the nitrous :).
