New guy with a ?

Alright one ? since im in the market for a possible rx8. I understand that the motor is oil injected and under aggressive driving it consumes more oil to compensate and keep things nice and cool. Well the ? is, is the reason so many people are blowing these motors because they don't check the oil level's especially after driving hard hence the overheating? or what are we dealing with just shit motors?

Read some more.

The rotary engine is still "new technology". It is a very precise system that takes a true car enthusiast to maintain. There are several reasons why one of these engines could go. Lack of maintenance is a sure way to have yours blown. But, even with proper care, things can go wrong. Once an Apex Seal goes, the engine is done and needs to be rebuilt.

If you been reading up on the rx8, The 09's 10's models have an extra oil injector. Thats why many people with 04's to 08's premix.

reading more has nothing to do with my ? is reliability, and from what ive read its not. has anyone ever built one of these motors correctly them selves and had it fail?

Their is another thread about engine problems. Its back and forth. I bought my 8 in Sept of last year. Everything I have read says it doesn't matter the care the engine is either good or bad. Just buy the car because you want it, take care of it, and drive the hell out of it. If the engine fails and you are under 100,000 miles mazda will check it possible replace it. Its an awesome car and well worth the headache,

Wrong phrasing.

I am 100% sure that the people that started premixing in 2004 didn't do it because 2009s have a 3rd injector. They did it because more lubrication was needed. 2009's added the 3rd injector to hopefully assist in correcting the low lubrication of the series 1 engines. The jury is still out on that.
