New To Board
Whats up everybody! Im Mikey Sonic, also known as the "kuza" of Boston. Just picked up my new rx-8 five days ago, blue with 19" racing harts going on sunday...so tell me people, what did i just get myself into and what should i be doing next?
You may not realize...
...it yet, but you've pretty much joined a cult!!
Seriously, I never realized how much passion and obsession Mazda's RX-series of cars commanded 'till I joined this board as I was researching my RX-8 purchase. Having now owned the car for five months, I cannot tell you how much the 8 gets under your skin! The stories of people taking the long way home, finding ways to make a ten minute grocery run last 30, waking up at nights thinking about going for a drive, detailing it each and every Saturday, etc...they are all true! The car is like a drug...it is that good.
Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the board!
BTW...post pics when you can of those wheels! :D

Now that you have joined our ranks you can never leave!!!
As for what you should do next, it depends on what you want.. If you are thinking performance the intake/Exhaust is always a good place to start.

Don't give up your RX7 yet....
Hey Rob - not meaning to hijack the thread, but if you can possibly swing it (since insurance on a second car, pleasure driving only, not back and forth to work, is very cheap) try to hang on to the RX7 and get an RX8, too!
I think you will enjoy the difference - my two "Rexes" get along great in my drive!
(The only problem is - now you will have TWO cars you care enough about to detail every weekend..................)

thanks everyone, definetly a welcoming forum.....my friend just got an sti, drove my car, is considering leaving the sti unlocked with keys in it in lowell or lawrence for a few nights in hope that it dissapears so he can get an 8....figured you guys would enjoy that little tidbit of info
MMMmmmmmm...STI...
...when and where exactly is your buddy gonna' leave his STI unlocked?
Seriously though, both are great cars...different charecter, different dynamics but both incredible performers.

Believe me, I always told everyone that I would NEVER sell my third gen 7!
But things change....I have two kids now, and I work 40 miles from home. I live in Riverside, and I know you are in Upland, so you know how hot it gets here! The 7 definitely does NOT like the heat!
As such, I don't drive the 7 much. My daily driver is a Protege 5 which is great for what it is.
It would be great to have a great handling car with rear seats that can be driven in heat and when the family goes out. Can't do that with the 7.
I love my 7, awesome car. Just not practical. And I can't afford to keep both. I will keep the Protege 5 though (love that 33 mpg since I drive so much).
Riccio- if you had to pick one or the other, which would you go with and why?
