Never Redlined... :/
So I bought my new 8 about a week ago. The guy told me he redlined it twice from when he got it which had about 13k miles on it. It currently has 68k miles.
Now I know redlining the car is good to get rid of carbon buildup. How would I know how much carbon has been built up from him never redlining the car and how would I fix that so I don't have something majorly wrong in the near future?

Thanks.

Anyone near RI that could help me out with the seafoam?
Kinda new to this Rotary Engine. And yea I should have done more research but now I'm stuck with the car. Nothing else I can do. I was looking at Smoke Honda's RX-8. Shoulda got that one instead of this one. :/
Oh well...
Yea so anyone near RI could help me out with the seafoam? I mean redlining it just once or like every day driving? Also what gear should I redline in? 1st?

redline when you want to, the engine is really rev happy...yeah redline 1st 2nd and 3rd if you can...3rd gear redlines at 91mphs so be careful not to get caught, i like to redline when ever i get the chance too
Thanks, so about the seafoam.
Do you know the steps to do it or should I just go to my mechanic and have it done?
Seafoam is easy, there is a D.I.Y. by NYCGPS in the diy subforum
How's the car running now?
you could just buy a few bottles of BG44 and pour it into your next 2 or 3 tanks of gas. It should help clean up the carbon

Car runs fine. But when I'm driving in 2nd gear it kinda pushes me back n forth when I'm like in traffic just moving slowly. But I think there is a loss of power because when start going in 1st gear its wicked slow and sometimes I'd have to rev it before going since it tries to go under 1kRPM..
LOL, the guy was like in his 30's and didn't look like a person who would go over 7k. I guess he thought it was a piston engine and redlining it would destroy it rather than maintain it.
~THINGS TO DO~
Okay from what you guys stated these are the things I should do now.
1. Redzone-ing
2. Seafoam
3. BG44
Now should I use BG44 and Seafoam or just use one or the other? Or I could use both? Also, how long do you think I should go redzone-ing? Everyday I drive for a week?

don't go crazy with the redlining.
Simple rule of thumb: one redline a day keeps the carbon away.
Also, redlining in 2nd is probably the better option as it's easier on the transmission.
One thing I've always done when buying used cars is to service them right away since it's hard to know what maintenance (if any) the prior owner did.
- Change Oil and Oil Filter
- Change spark plugs www.blackhaloracing.com has then for $80 shipped
- Flush transmission / differential. use OEM fluids or Redline. (check your manual for fluid specs)
- at your current mileage, I'd recommend changing the ignition coils as well. You can buy OEM coils at www.onlinemazdaparts.com or you can look into an upgraded coil kit.
- Flush Radiator fluid
as for the seafoam or BG44k, pick one or the other if you're pouring it into your gas tank.

Which Coil Kit would be the best for the 8?

Yeeps: "Best" is very subjective term
I will say this: I went through 3 sets of OEM ignition coils in the past 4 years. The OEM's are hit or miss, some people get good life out of them, others do not.
I now have the BHR ignition kit and am loving it. I fully expect this ignition kit to far outlast the OEM's.

Is there anywhere cheaper or this is like the LOWEST?
Price $485

...that or you can use seafoam to clean it out, OR do what i like doing, redzone-ing it
go past redline to about 9.3k then shift
