Nervous Parent ( of RX8)
Ok so I dropped my 8 off for it's first oil change - and to get a CEL that flashed at me earlier this week checked out.
Why am I so nervous? - never been like this with any other car. I don't remember being this nervous when my kids went off to camp! :D |
consider your rx8 your bitch..not a kid...hahaha don't worry man....sit back drink a beer and relax...

Foto- I feel your pain. The first time I left my car with the Mazda dealership, it came back with a nice big scratch in the fender down to the metal. Later when I took the car to the dealership to have another scratched item replaced, they left huge handprints of dirt/oil smudged into my headliner.
This luck carries over everywhere; I took the RX8 to another shop to get aftermarket wheels, and ended up with a big gauge on the front of the black engine undertray. Needless to say I now *always* do a thorough inspection of my car after I pick it up from anywhere. |
Got my Yellow back- no obvious issues that I see- I checked over the report- My CEL was a P0301 - Front Rotor Misfire. Eccentric Shaft Position Error - It was re-calibrated- then the latest flash was installed - funny it does not say what it was anyplace- I am hoping at least "N" if not "P" - the Service manager could not tell me - :o(
Also the invoce says they put in 5W30 - i asked what's with that- Manual says 5w20 - the Service manager assures me it is 5W20 - it was a mispunch on the computer- he says the 5w20 comes out of bottles- so they know they put the right thing in! So any way for me to make sure? |

But if you are worried about it, you will have to either make sure before they do the oil or get comfortable doing it yourself. |
Well, my experience w/ Mazda so far is that they are not really a luxury car model maker, and relatively-speaking they do not take as good care of their cars- be it inventory or customers- compared to luxury car makers.
Lexus & BMW dealers know their customers can be extremely picky and anal. So, they go out of their way to make sure they take good care. |
