Need a new center console latch

Forgive me if I'm posting this in repitition or the wrong area of this site - I'm new here.

My '04's center console cover latch button is broken. My Mazda dealer indicated that i would have to buy an entirely new cover, not just the latch button, and that it was $300+. What are my options to solve this problem cheaply? Any good source of used console covers? Or aftermarket items that will suffice? Even better, is there a way to just get the latch button and springs?

Thakns for your help!

in defense of newbies (not lazies, sorry konig) the search "button" isn't exactly jumping out at you! some of these sites are really laid out oddly, or differently at least, and if you're new, it might be hard to realize you can search. i think they could put the search link first in that row/header, or in a row all by itself to make it stand out more!

anyway - op - i've had this problem for years, just never got around to fixing it. i'm sure there's a cheap way to fix it, wouldn't bother with the dealer.

I agree the dealer dose suck thats why I always get part numbers or check ebay my latch broke but I wanted to change the color so i bought a second console

And yet it put him in contact with a member who has what he needs, rescuing him from the dealer.

One member helping another. Far from useless, it's the site at its finest.

Agreed and I put this in every site that people try to flame. What good is the search button? All it does is give you threads about how people need to use the search button. Answer or click off.

As for this, I too have a broken latch if you figure something out please do tell.

There's a Diy somewhere on the forum. Pretty much take the lid off and put like a piece of metal between the two hook on the latch and problem fixed. I haven't done it yet tho but mine is kinda broken as well. More like it doesn't sit stright.

Here it is. Don't be afriad to look around the site.

Yeah thats not how mine broke fool who had it before me somehow broke the plastic on the hinge of the button. That is just for a loose button.
