need help!!
so yesterday, i was painting my calipers and after we (me and my brother in law) were finished, i started the car and moved it in to the garage so it could sit all night and dry. but this morning i tried to start the car up and it wouldnt start. i made sure last night that all my doors were closed and locked, and i also set my alarm so im sure everything was fine. so im not sure if its the batteri, but i just had some one come by and run a diognostic and nothings poping up, so were gonna try and call mazda. any idea on what the prob is?

Like Peter Gabriel once sang, "Lord, here comes the flood"
|
If it doesn't even turn over, it's either mostly likely the starter, battery or alternator.
Also, check your connections to make sure they're not corroded and are securely attached. |
we need more info than 'it wouldn't start'
did anything happen, did it crank forever...etc. |

Did you flood it? Check your coils, wires and plugs. Make sure the wires are secured on the plugs.

So you turned off the car before the engine was warm? Sounds like you flooded the engine. If your battery checks out to be good, i would pull out your spark plugs and take a look at them. Good odds the plugs are fouled.

look in the DIY section for how to change your plugs...or better yet look at the DIY deflood threads. If you did flood it you likely soaked the spark plugs with fuel. You'll need to take them out, and crank the engine and shoot the extra fuel out the spark plug holes.
Edit: Mine didn't post a CEL when I flooded it. |
ya started car moved into garage then shut off, that is exactly what people warn others about when it comes to flooding lol o well learning experience.

yeah im reading alfys DIY im gonna give it a try right after my batteri is charged, all that cranking really drained my batteri

|
i think you should use the same plugs to deflood it then put new ones in ... sounds like you definitely flooded it
|
i put them back in and it still not working!!

It usually takes A LOT of cranking without them in to get ALL of the fuel out. I cranked with the ESS unplugged, plugs out, fuel fuse pulled and gas pedal to the floor (You really need to be reading the deflooding procedure) for at least 30 minutes. Not in one crank of course. 7 seconds at a time with 15 seconds rests in between. After ALL liquid stopped spitting out of the plug holes I put in new plugs and tried cranking again (after plugging everything back in) It still took me 3 or 4 tries before the motor sputtered back into life. I had to give it partial throttle to keep it alive for a few minutes, but then after all the white smoke was gone it idled on its own and eventually smoothed out. Keep reading the forum for deflooding threads.
