Need bulbs for Clear Corners...
So my clear corners just arrived at my house early this week and before I put them on when I go home for break, I need to pick up amber bulbs...
I have been searching and trying to gather information, but everyone seems to be scattered about amber/bulb and I'm not real familiar with part #'s and 4-LED vs. others, etc. From what I gathered, am I looking for 194's in amber?? 4-LED? 6-LED? And where should I get them from? V-LEDS? Part #? Someone also brought up stealth bulbs, but are those only in clear/blue? Thanks for everyone's help in advance. I decided to post and ask here because I know a bunch of you already have them on your car and can steer me in the right way pretty quick. Thanks. |
194 Amber 4 LED is what i bought.

I use the stealth bulbs and I like them. When they blink they are amber and thats all I care for. I ordered them from mazdaparts.com . If you do a search theres a thread in here somewhere about not using LED's in the corners.

LED's show clear and blink amber too. Stealth bulbs are way too pricey for me

Thanks! So what type of bulbs would I be looking for if I wanted a single bulb... something like these? http://cgi.ebay.com/2pcs-T10-168-194...QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-SUP...60341716QQrdZ1 |
I think that guy's side bulbs melting was an isolated incident. I've seen MANY cars out here in SoCal who have multi-led's and have not had any issues (me included)
I'd check out the 5 or 6 wedge LED bulbs from autolumination. I recently installed them and I think they're a very nice touch. |
And what is the main difference between a 5-6 LED and a 4 or single inverted cone bulb... just brighter?
|
I bought all autolumination lights, and have since changed everyone of them except the stealth turn signal bulbs in the headlight housing.
At first they were all great, but they started to go bad quickly. I bought multi-leds for all the lights, and hyper-whites for the fog lights. They all burnt out or started blinking after awhile. Not to mention, no 2 bulbs were exactly alike. One was always slightly brighter or more yellow or whiter than another. I had to mess around trying to find a decent combo so it wouldn't be that obvious. I bought all new bulbs from velocityleds, and they seem to be fine. Here's what I bought. (2 sets) 2 HID WHITE SUPER REFRACTOR 5 LED BULBS 194 - $19.98 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=250043848659 (1 set) 2 HID WHITE 6 LED LIGHT BULBS 194 - 7.99 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=250034711304 (2 sets) 2 HID WHITE INVERTED CONE WEDGE BASE LED 194 - $3.98 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=250034740496 10 bulbs total - $31.95 + $7.79s/h = $39.74 The inverted cones wedge is useless for the sidemarker. I have removed the metal divider in the sidemarker, and it's still hard to get lighting to the back. I ended up using the inverted bulb for the interior lights on the door. I will use the other 2 on the map lights. The 5 led bulb worked best for the sidemarkers because it has leds on the side. I used the 6 led bulbs for the little lights in the headlight housing. Also, in case it comes up, these are the bulbs I bought for the foglights. $10/set includes s/h H11 XENON WHITE HID FOGLIGHT BULB 04-06 MAZDA http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MEWN:IT&ih=005 |
the single bulb will display light straight forward. If you go with a 5 led from someone like autolumination, it might reflect light a little better since not all the bulbs face forward.
Here's a picture of what I have: http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d3...atrix_w_wm.jpg |
Haha - I beat jedi. I already said that. :smoker: :lol2:

damn Cesar, you JUST beat me to the punch... (less the 1 minute).
|
Well I think I'm going to go with these then because of the 'mismatch' and short life occurances I've heard about autolumination... Thanks for everyone's help... this is exactly what I needed...

Those are the same LEDS that I have in my car PSU, and so far so good. Ive only heard good things about them, so I think your safe.
|
don't you have to add a load resistor for the corner markers?
|
nope. On blinkers it's a good idea or they'll blink way too fast (since led's are so much more power efficient)
|
Alright, it's OFFICIAL... I now HATE autolumination. Thinking about making a thread about it later...
