Nearing 100k miles on original engine - how to keep it going for another 20k?

So I'm almost at 100k miles, still on the original engine (I am the second owner). Car runs great, only flooded the engine once when my battery died. Regular oil changes at 3000 miles.

I can't afford to replace the car yet, maybe in a year or so. Any tips, maintenance items I should focus on to ensure the engine doesn't die on me?

Regular maintenance items first and foremost. Coils and plugs at 25-30,000 miles. Premix can't hurt, as well as the Sohn adapter. You might want to consider replacing your cat if you haven't, or getting a midpipe.

With that kind of mileage, preventive maintenance is a must. Some car parts won't last forever, so its better to replace some older parts with new parts...just sayin'

just don't turn it off again...

really though, just keep up with the normal maintenance.
