My new 8 is Home

:D Hello , i will try to make this short. 10 days ago i was a somewhat happy owner of a 2000 MR2 spyder and 98 mazda 626 v6 , both purchased because i could not find just one car the would make me happy. i have been looking to replace them for about a year but there still was no one car that had both the fun of the MR2 ( loved this car) and the easy ride and room of the 626. Looked at the G35,350z,Crossfire and S2000 .Great cars but i would not be getting anywhere. i just wanted one car. Then it happened Sunday night May 8th. The Rx8 commercial when the guy hugs the door (doors) of the car. 4 DOORS !!!!!. i was hooked on the car.Why i had not noticed it i am not sure but i wanted one.
I got right on line and found RX8Club.com. Read the forum until i could not stay awake. in between reading the forum i was going back and forth between my two local dealers web sites. Found there where 47 on the two lots here and only one yellow. Called the dealer monday and had a apointment on wed. Took both cars in but could not get the deal i wanted then so thay said leave the mazda and we will try.Called them everyday no word then this morning they called to say come pick it my new (20 miles) Lighting Yellow AT with touring package AT and Bose. I have been on here all my free time for the last 8 days reading this forum and you guys helped me a lot. I made sure the AC and seat belt issue was taken care of and they played dumb about the m flash but promised to hook it up and tell me which it had( they belive it has the M , because they had taken them all of recently and ran them back through service) and all new flash updates are FREE. I just wanted to thank you guys and i am now and official memeber. The names EatMyBanana and i will have picks soon, but it is just basic now .My Plans are Rear Rotary accent, exhaust finishers, fender strakes at this time. Hope to have lots of fun checking this site out everynight and getting to Know you guys better and i promise to try search before i ask a dumb question . LATER :p

Welcome to club! Good story. You have just been nominated as a finalist in "Newbie of the Year" contest because of your last sentence about the search. :D

Congrats--how'd do u compare the A/t RX8 to your old MR2 Spyder? I have an A/t as well--even though its slow of the line it handles very very well.

Congrats! How does the AT feel? It's got 41 less HP..just wondering if you drove both.

Welcome! I also had a 2000 MR2 Spyder. Great car! The 8 has more power and the engine sounds so much better. Both cars handle extremely well, although I like the feel of the steering in the 8 more. The main feature about the 8 that I love is the fact that it has 4 seats and a trunk. Did you ever go shopping with your girlfriend in the MR2? (Well, I can either take YOU home or your stuff... hmmm.....)

Cheers!

Thanks for the welcome

Thanks for the welcome. sorry it took a while to replie, i was all excited to get home and get on this site last night just to find out i could not replie . i worked for hours and could not figuire out what was wrong and i was so PISSED. but today i took my time and realized i had missed up my email add. so on with the show. first- i will take pics soon . second -thanks for the newbie of the year nomination :) third-its hard at this time to compare the MR2 to the RX8. last night on the way home i was missing the MR2 because th RX8 felt very big and heavy to me. i was a little scared of it. but today i started feeling much better about it ,i have only put about 70 miles on it but i feel much closer to it today. i am sure with time we will get to know it other better. The MR2 i was used to , we seemed to be tied at the hip , i could fly around town in and out of traffic and park it anywhere. So that said, i cannot fairly compare them at this time. i am taking a trip from charleston sc to martinsville va. sunday and i am looking forward to the drive and learning to be comfortable with my Banana ( if Gwenth came name here baby Apple). about the AT vers the MT thing. i would have liked to had a MT but there was only one yellow out of over 40 here and the dealer confirmed the yellow was gone and white was coming so it would be hard to get the yellow without having to wait . also the reason i wanted to trade was to get a little more easy and layed back drive. I can still shift to Manuel ( which for now i have been a little afraid of it ,but hope to read on here tonight to see how best to use it ) and feel like i have a straight drive. So far the power of the AT seems to be good i have not pushed it hard yet. i would not try to race a Z, Vet or any other car because i realize i would lose, but i can tell you that ,if the road was winding i would wipe there a##. I also think i WILL get a ticket in this car and if i had gotten the MT i NO i would get one. Again guys thanks for the welcome and hopefully making new friends. Banana Off
