my greddy exhaust

hey guys,
i picked it up and installed today. first off, i went to a muffler place by my house, monro muffler on olden in ewing, and the guy was a complete idiot. i told him i needed to keep the original setup, and the guy says ok, the proceeds to cut off the center pipe. i am like what are you doing. he says there is no way to remove this muffler without cutting it. i then told him to remove the back pieces on the bumper and the muffler can come out pretty easily. he told me that he didnt want to remove any body pieces. he tried to get it off for about 40 minutes then said i think the only way is to remove these body pieces, but i dont want to break them. i asked him if he wanted me to do it, and he said yes. so i walked in and took them off and bamn, the muffler came out in 1 minute. keep in mind the center pipe is cut. so he starts to puts the new muffer in and says you dont have enough gaskets, i am like everything is there, trust me. so he looks and says oh yeah. he thought it needed another gasket.

so everything gets put in, then he removes the center pipe from the original muffler and gives them both to me. the center pipe is wrecked. cut in 5 different places. he said if i need to put it back on, bring it in and they can weld it. i wouldnt go back there if my life depended on it.

half way through, he asked me if it was fast, i said it was ok, but it wouldnt beat an evo or a wrx off the line or anything. then he said they are slow. i was like no way, those are rediculously fast. he tried to tell me his 98 camaro destroys those. i asked him to see it, and he said he didnt have it anymore. so i guess his camaro doesnt beat anything.

So then i asked him if he had a garbage bag or something so i could put it in my car so i dont filthy up the seats. he said no, i said you dont have a garbage bag. so i took off my shirt, thankfully i had an undershirt on, and used that.

so i go inside to pay for the mess, and he told me 60 bucks, i said the first guy said it would be 50, and he said, i have to charge you tax, i said that would only be 53 then. he said it is 60, so i wasnt going to argue over 10 bucks, so i give him my visa/check card, and he said this was supposed to be cash. i said, what, you never said that. so i had to walk next door to the gas station to get cash from the mac. then he wouldnt give me a receipt, does under the table sound familar sir.

so i drive off in my newly installed greddy exhaust...loving the sound, but bitter about the jackass that couldnt figure it out.

oh, on a positive note, extremepsi in langhorne PA is really good. they gave me the exhaust for 550, it took a week because they dont stock it, but they are super friendly when i picked it up, he was asking about the car and saying his friend had a blue one and loves it. these guys are A+. I will buy all my future upgrade parts from them, really stand up guys....ps they even asked for ID, because i purchased it over the phone, and they needed to make sure i was who i said i was. I am very happy with them.

so the moral of the story, if you are in ewing, nj....dont ever go to monro shocks and exhausts, because they are a bunch of clown ass tools, who dont know there ass from ....

That's why I stay away from Midas and other chain muffler stores. They can damage your car. It's already happened to me. You can't trust the quality or mechanical knowledge of those morons.

I would have left the second he said he had to cut the old muffler off. I ordered mine from a speed shop in Naples Fl and driove there to get it installed. I know this sounds a little redicilous but I only trust a few places to do work on my car reguardless of what kind of work it is. I asked to keep my old muffler and they even stored it for me until I go back down there to pick it up in another car (it would have fit but didnt want to put it in the car). I always believe in you pay for what you get when it comes to service. But if you do need a new center pipe check out mazsport they should be able to help you out.

he had already cut the pipe after i told him i needed it. i stopped him immediately, but it was too late. i wont need a new center pipe for a few more years, but i am hoping to just flange the original muffler and use the greddy center pipe.(i dont know if it is possible, but i will try)
i still havent heard back from the corp. office about my email to them, nor do i expect to, but i feel better letting them know my concerns about there workmanship. originally i was going to take it to the garage that i worked at many years back in college, but they are over an hour away and since he wouldnt charge me anything to do the work there, i didnt want to ask him to stay late. this weekend i have plans on friday-sunday, which meant god knows when i would have been able to get there. its ok, the muffler is in, but it was a real pain.

fyi, the greddy exhaust is really nice
