My first RX8-

I just bought my first RX8 last week. I found a steal of a deal at a local dealer. I bought a 2004 Grand Touring(I'm assuming it is a grand touring package, it has heated leather seats and power sunroof.) 6 speed manual in showroom condition with only 9,000 (yes 9K) miles for- 12,300.00 I couldn't believe the price I got from the range rover/jaguar dealer-- I checked out the retail KBB and it was the exact price he listed at 12,866. Only a 1,600 addition for mileage. He knocked off 500.00. I'm in the process of changing all the fluids. Car runs like new. I have owned 3 RX7's and I'm very excited to have a back seat for my 2 young boys. My question is how do I know what model I bought. Is there anything I should do other then repalce all the fluids? How can I determine the manufacture date of my tires? If they are original should I change them? With only 9K, they still have alot of tread. They are Bridgestone Potenza's. The dealership told me a 60 year old lady drove the car. I laughed at him when he said it but I found the original registration slip and look the name and address up of the owner on the internet and sure enough it was a 64 year old female. I'm in Rotary heaven.

Congrats. That's a great deal indeed.

Make sure the car has the latest PCM program and all recalls are performed.

Welcome!
Sounds like you have a grand touring. You should post some pictures!

You did ask for a carfax before purchasing the vehicle right?
Because a swapped cluster would store the wrong miles even though the miles are stored in the ecu.

Very nice find! I assume you are the second owner? Post pics!

As others have said, just make sure it has had all the necessary flashes and is electronically/mechanically up to date. As long as your tires still have a lot of tread, hold air with no noticeable depreciation in pressure, and look good physically (no cracking, splitting, etc) then I would say keep them.

Congrats.

I have a similar story. I got my 2008 40th AE from a Mercedes dealer in PA in the spring of 2010. It had less than 6000 miles on it. An older couple had traded it in on a new merc. When I took it to my local Mazda dealer to have it checked out, the service manager came out and said he remembered the car (after checking the VIN), an older couple from Pennsylvania had ordered it and he had to deliver it to them in PA because neither of them knew how to drive a manual tranny.

Read this: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete....jsp?techid=11

As far as replacing them, I would recommend it if they are the original tires.
