My first 1000 miles, I'm very happy!

I've been following a slightly modified version of the Racing Beat break in suggestions for the RX-8. Kept it under 4K revs for the first 600 miles, then under 7K for the next 400 miles. Now that I hit 1000 miles, I thought I'd let her rip to red line.

Woo hoo - what a blast! I was getting a nice surge at 5K, but then at about 7500 there's another kick. And this car HANDLES! But you all know that.

So far (knock on wood), everything's great! No rattles and it's very tight. A/C works fine, which is a MUST for Hawaii, and my MPG isn't too bad - about 18 mpg 50/50 city highway.

On the downside, the interior plastic and aluminum trim seems easy to scuff, so I've been telling anyone who rides in the car to be extra careful.

I've owned many cars over the years, from Fords to BMWs and all of the RX-7 gens (1,2 & 3). And this RX-8 is one of the best cars I've had to date. I'm very very happy.

Nice, Mod plans?

RX-Hachi 06-13-2004 01:23 PM

No major mod plans yet. Car looks near perfect as is with the aero pkg, rear spoiler, and rotary accents which came with the car. Got the clear corner lens and front splash guards on order to enhance the look. But that's it for now.

If Mazdaspeed comes out with a bolt on turbo or supercharger, count me in! But actually, I'm quite pleased with the power it's already got, and I used to own an E36 BMW M3 - and I'm not missing it.:D

Congrats! I turned 1000 miles on the way back from REV IT UP! Now, drive it like you stole it!
