My baby has a dent ;(

I was driving along, one rainy day, and something out of the trees above me fell and hit my hood *Nothing huge..I only heard the *BANG*...so not sure what it was* and I get out and see a dime to quarter sized dent in the hood. No scratched paint and no crease, thankfully. I tried the "Hairdryer + compressed air" trick. Didn't work :( I'll have to find someplace that sells Dry Ice next...

Just my whine story, really. :(

Dent Free paintless dent remover. A mobile dent removal service, about $100. In Yellow Pages.

CyberPitz 07-19-2008 02:31 PM

Sadly, in my current financial pickings *Just moved and still owe the government money from taxes...* I can't afford $100. I'm hoping to cheaply and easily get it out myself. Never bought Dry Ice, hope it's not expensive :p

That sux. Might make u feel lil better in that i dented my fender by screwing on the fucking oil filter. I was bending over to get to it and my thigh was pressed up against the fender and when i backed out the fender was pushed in a bit (about size of baseball. I had to take out the inside wheel well splash guard and press it out (got most of it back to normal but still could c a lil bit if in the right light). It is VERY thin and flimsy. Talk about being pissed at myself. At least yours was a legit accident and not and idiot move like mine:)

CyberPitz 07-19-2008 02:34 PM

Shit, that sucks. Hope you can get it all the way out! :O

CyberPitz 07-26-2008 06:12 PM

Sorry to bump this up, but I tried to whole blow dryer + compressed air and now I got done with dry ice...dent still prevails. It's about a nickel - quarter sized dent with no creases what so ever. Since I'm failing so hard, can I take it to a body shop and will my insurance cover it? I know nothing about the way insurance works and what I have to say for it to be covered/if anything needs to be said...

OR if anybody has any other free/cheap anecdotes to use...let me know. I was thinking about a plunger...

Try opening your hood, removing the protective cover on the underside and pushing out the dent with a screwdriver or flat object. If your deductible is more than $100, you may as well have Dentpro fix it.

It's on the side. Under the hood, on the left side, where the 'hump' is...no protective gear. I'll have to pay the $100 to get it removed, I guess :(

Oh...there is a product?! I thought it was a service...haha. *googles*

eviltwinkie 07-27-2008 01:24 PM

Dude....pdr...paintless Dent Removal...

Done

CyberPitz 07-27-2008 01:44 PM

Google renders people performing a PDR. Cheapest one around here is $50 a panel.

I'm trying to figure out what PDR you guys are talking about D:

RatedX8 07-27-2008 02:00 PM

Paintless dent removal is a service not a product. As far as I can tell.

LHpitcher4 07-27-2008 02:40 PM

I say get a "Pops a dent"

One of my friends bought it and it worked, but maybe read reviews online before paying the $20.

CyberPitz 07-27-2008 02:41 PM

OK, gotcha. Pitz is a little bit more knowledgeable now....but just a little. I'll call around AutoZone and see if they offer the service.

*EDIT* Autozone says they don't do that...at least around here, haha. I wish I could find out what I'm doing so wrong with the dry ice. :(

Rootski 07-27-2008 03:50 PM

The hood is aluminum. Not sure PDR works on aluminum.

CyberPitz 07-27-2008 03:50 PM

That would explain why I couldn't get it to work....*busts into tears*

04RX8man 07-27-2008 06:40 PM

they def make a tool that removes dents it is like a plastic or steel bar with a couple suction cups and a screw knob and u slowly tighten(i think( and it pulls the dent right out but i'm not sure if it would work for a dent so small....but I thik any parts store/hardware store would have it

I was hoping SOMEONE else knew what I was talking about:cool:

CyberPitz 07-27-2008 07:16 PM

Upon googling pops a dent...it looks like a plunger :P

04RX8man 07-27-2008 08:37 PM

haha I couldn't remember the name of it haha yeah sounds like it sort of like a plunger i guess.......haha i knew what you were talkin about LHPitcher haha

mmats69 07-27-2008 09:45 PM

pay the money and get a professional to do it. that way you know it will get done right the first time.

CyberPitz 07-27-2008 11:42 PM

Yeah, I just got done washing/claying/waxing...and that fkn dent is driving me crazy!!

PBlue 07-28-2008 07:19 AM

I called a paintless dent guy and asked how much if i went to HIS house, then showed up w. cash... and paid 40$, down from 100. It took him 1 hour flat. I watched the whole thing, it was a dent in the driver door body line right on top of the structural frame. The dude was amazing and it is absolutely perfect.
