My 8 LOVES Chevron 93

I can honestly say that I'm now a Chevron guy! My RX8 seems to run smoother and has more pep to it's spin (lol) when I use Chevron 93. I normally try to use Chevron at least once every two months to clean out the engine (since they add their Thech fuel cleaner stuff to their gas) but I'm now going to use it almost exclusively because of the results I've gotten with my 8.

Also one of my highest city MPG I've gotten was with Chevron (19.69mpg) but after using it this last fill up I think I'm pretty much done using other types of gas.

Be weary of the cheap-O gas and stick to the name brands only. I've only used cheap-O gas when forced in the past but I am now a Chevron guy.

93 :( I wish I had 93 in Southern California... hahaha. But we have V-POWER 91 FROM SHELL AND CHEVRON WITH TECHRON!!!

I love 76, Shell, Mobil and Chevron. Best gas you can get.... don't get Arco or the cheap stuff you never heard of. Hahahah. Watered-down gas = bad for your rotary!

I use Chevron because my friend drives an S2000, and he told me to onyly use Chevron. I don't know if there is a much of a difference between Chevron and Racetrac, but o well.

I've tried to only use Chevron since 1992. It's a rare occasion when I put in 5 bucks of something like Mohawk 92.

Chevron Canada has 87, 89, 92, and 94 octane fuel. I usually stick to the 92 octane.

I thought all gasoline came from one big vat, like shampoo.

the major diffrence is the additive packages. All gas has a madated amount. but up to 40% of the content of gas is aromatic hydrcarbons like toluene which has a octane rating of 114 that they use to boost gasolines octane rating.

Since I've gone to college I've only used Chevron in any car I've owned. My 8 loves the 93 stuff as well. I recommend it to all 8 owners. :)

I just think it's the cleaning agents that really please the 8, not so much the fuel, but I honestly can say that I feel a difference. It's not like I get another 50HP but it's more regarding smoothness and peepynessssssssss....

I also told my wife not to put in anything other than Chevron in her 6 also, since she takes SO many short drives.

I use Chevron ALWAYS unless there isn't one, in which case I use BP, but thats once every now and again. The car seems happy :)

I dunno, strangely it seems in my case I think that more cleaning agents results in less mileage. Whenever I use Shell, I always tend to end up around 14 MPG, and I'm assuming Shell has the most cleaning agents out of the name brands out there. Going with Chevron puts me back to around 15-16...except for once when I dumped an additional bottle of Techron in to clean the fuel injectors and whatnot. That tank ended up being in the low 14s, which is what's making me think more cleaning agents = less mileage. My friend also noted that he gets less mileage on his Camaro using Shell vs. Chevron.

Hmmm, maybe...I'll have to start paying attention since I'm going to start using it 100% of the time now (well when possible)

I used to use mobile 91 exclusively and was getting about 230ish miles out of a tank, filling up at 13.5 almost every time. I switched to shell vpower 91 and now am getting 260ish out of the same 13.5 tank...

I love Chevron myself.. but mostly thats because it was close to my house :)

However I like the new add campaign they have.. don't remember the exact words, but something about Honda/Ford's new work with EPA laws and some new "super quality" of gas they are now claiming you should use.... Chevron's take... "We didn't have to upgrade our formula to this new standard, because it is already better!"

Something like that.. it's on billboards all over thier station.

Enjoy. The gas here in California rucks the root. 92 is the best we can get normally, unless you want to buy unleaded 100 race gas from Unocal.

Running 93 or 94 might actually increase power, if our PCMs are aggressive enough to advance the timing to exploit the extra knock resistance. (Not sure how that works with a rotary engine, but I guess the principle is the same.)

Stupid S. Cal. I can't find anything more then 91 over here. tho I heard of a 76 gas with 93 in pasadena somewhere.

Several people claim better miliage with 89 or 87 Octane and no knocking.

I use Chevron or Union 76. Tried Shell once and got less MPG.

My 8 has only seen Chevron 93 octane gas. I heard Chevron was the best from TV.

Gusy, 91 or 93...it does not matter...

The difference would be slight to nothing so don't worry...heck, if there was 91 I probably would use it myself.

No, the corn gas here in CA really does suck. Hard. I was trying to run a turbo Miata on the 92, and my data logs showed tons of detonation from the fuel. I had to pull a lot of timing.

The technician helping me (remotely, from CO) said the gas here was unbelievably bad, as evidenced by the detonation he was seeing in CA cars.

When I was able to run unleaded race gas, my performance went through the roof. I was able to add tons of timing and lean the fuel way out. Huge difference.
