my 8 is dented! :-(
 

Played a round of golf yesterday and came back to find my 8 with 2 nice golf ball dents on it (one on the hood and one beside the sunroof). I could kill right now!
they are about the size of hail marks. Anyone know how easy these will be to get taken out? do they have to bondo or do they have a better way now? If you see any punks weilding golf clubs, hold em for me, i'll be there soon.

Some times they can be pushed out by a good dent guy. They have a bunch of little rods and bars they can stuff in small places. I've seen them do crazy things.
If not they will bondo. Bondo works great on those types of things if done right. Thats what bondo was made for. Not for rebuilding a fender or door like some people do...

Look up "Dent Wizard" or "Dent Busters" or "paintless dent repair". If the dent's not super deep—and if the paint's not scratched—they can completely remove those dings as if they never happened! Hard to believe, but true.

Where I live there is a mobile guy the does paintless dent removal. I had him come to my house and remove a door ding from my 3. It had 500 miles on it an some asshole swung there door and hit it.

When he was done it was completely gone. Cost me around 80 bucks.

Generally if you can get behind the dented surface and there is no crease in it, it should be able to be pushed out.

Here is the link from the guy I used. Might be able to find someone closer to you. Ask your dealership for someone, they use them all the time for door dings.

Little touch up paint and you could never see it.

Those paintless dent removal guys are amazing! Someone from my work dinged my door (and she didnt tell me, but I know it was her!!!). It was right on the crease...it was a large ding...and he removed it perfectly.

I had a large dent in my hood from a rock that hit me. I was unable to get paintless because it was too deep. Then ended up having to take the paint off before they could get the dent out. There was a little scuffing on the hood since the rock "skipped" on it. I got it back, the new paint matches perfectly, and you can't tell there was ever a dent there.

Dent Wizard, they do amazing work, its like magic........:))) If the paint is still intake, few pops and pings and the dents are gone..............

listen to this guy, i have had 8 dents taken out by Paintless dent repair, they are a fair price and it'll make you feel a million times better when taken out. just look for PDR. :)

Ouch, when did that happen?

On September 8th.
I took my girlfriend for a nice night out, we got a bottle of wine and had a relaxing dinner outside at an upscale restaurant, then took a walk and when I went back to my car there was a note on the driver side window. A witness saw the whole thing and recorded the license plate. Apparently the lady drove down the road and swerved into the front end of my car. I was parallel parked. She backed up, got out, stumbled to my car, looked at the damage, then looked at the witness, got in her car and sped away.

Unfortunately, my insurance is moving at the pace of a snail and I still haven't even found out if the 'suspect' has insurance yet. If I don't hear by today I'm going to file a complaint. There's absolutely no way I am going to pay a $500 deductible in a hit and run. GRRR.

It boggles my mind how someone can leave the scene of an accident and live with that.

I hate people that leave the scene...or people that ding doors and don't say anything...especially when it's a CO-WORKER!!!

Thats you you need to carry a gun with you... THEY WILL STOP and appologize.

Ouch sorry to hear about the dents but it could be worse. Dent Doctor or Ding Wizard should be able to get them out with NO problem at all. You won't even know it ever happened and all for about $100.

Now the damage to my girls RX-8 was a tad worse(see pics). She took it to Maaco and they did a fantastic job.

and this just happened on the 4th while parked pretty close to where my girl was parked! Thankfully her neighbor came forward and told me she backed into it. So she's at the body shop and I'm borrowing my girls RX-8. I love this little car but can't wait to have mine back!

Well, got my car back from the paintless dent removal people and noticed that there is a circle crack in the paint around where the dent used to be. It's going back in this morning for a hood repaint job. the saga continues :-(

Instead of repainted, they wet sanded and buffed it out. Doesnt wet sanding remove the clear coat?

My hood that fixed up great (so it appeared), is now starting to cave back in, I think due to temperature changes. Last week it was much cooler out and raining and I see the spot where my original dent was is starting to sink in a little. Of course, the temperature was up about 20 degrees yesterday and not raining and when I looked at it, it was nowhere near as pronounced. I called the body shop that fixed it to tell them about it. They said to bring it in on a cool and/or rainy day so they can see it under those conditions. They said that perhaps it was too damaged to hold the repair long-term. It appears I may be getting a new hood out of my dent, though. It would make no sense for them to have to keep repairing it if it isn't going to hold. The body shop guaranteed the repair for life so they'll have to fix it. I just hope it isn't a long, drawn-out process.

Good luck BunnyGirl. If this repair doesnt come out right, i'm going to ask for the new hood route as well. tis a shame that mazdaspped concept hood isnt available :-)

I like that hood, too. :) I was initially trying for paintless with my dent but it was too deep and would have had your paint issues with the cracking. Now it is developing "integrity" issues. LOL At least the body shop does excellent paint matching so that won't be an issue. :)

The problem with aluminum is that it can be fixed, it's just iffy as to whether or not it's going to stay. I think that is probably why it is still more common to replace dented panels than repair them.
