Hoping someone can take a minute and explain to me how this flywheel is supposed to mount on my engine. Its one of those "guaranteed" to bolt right up things. But yet Im still stuck scratching my noggin. I did a quick search both here and google, but evidently Im the only one confused. Do I need some kind of counter weight? Missing an adapter? Even if I did manage to use 6 existing engine bolts , what is going to lock the crankshaft to the flywheel? Sad face..,..
Hi Loki, thanks for chiming in, and thanks for the definitive answer. I kinda figured something was missing. Bought it from Xedy. You would think they would have mentioned the counterweight thing. At the very least as an upsell point.
Flywheels usually mount directly onto the crankshaft using the existing bolts, with no additional adapter or counterweight needed if it’s labeled “guaranteed to fit.” The flywheel locks to the crank via the bolt tension and the matching hub and crankshaft surfaces. Make sure bolt patterns align perfectly, and torque bolts to spec to secure it safely. For anyone dealing with back-to-back deadlines, I recommend checking UK Writing.
