Excellent response. Are you sure you can read? Maybe you misunderstood all my posts and we really do agree on everything.

I worked for a year in a better oil companies R&D labs with some formulators as a formulator intern

I'd be willing to bet Castrol has never tested their oil in a RENESIS. Its because Mazda is a small manufacturer, has no industry standard tests of importance, and has not partnered with any oil companies... which means there engines do not sit on the dyno stands like GM, Ford, VW, Chrysler, Toyota, Mercedes, BMW, and Porsche engines do.

Throw in the limited number of rotary engines out there, and you have a "Guru" that has no specific experience with the engines and had to go to Mazda for recommendations... plus the fact the you quickly realize the majority of formulators are chemical engineers and don't have a very good understanding of whats going on in an engine (yet alone a rotary engine)

Dude you were an intern. I'd be willing to bet you don't know **** about what thousands of oil company engineers know or don't know.

First of all you really seem delusional or brainwashed. You have your little theory about synthetics and defend it like your life depended on it. You read a chapter in a book and you believe that made you an oil expert. Use your logic for a minute here. Rotary engine burns oil, mineral oil burns easier that synthetic - can you draw your own conclusions here or do you need to spend some time in a library?

I don't exactly follow here. I guess that you claim that based on your "extensive experience" chemical engineers that work on an ENGINE oil know **** about engines. Is that right?

Then tell me something.

What kind of *material* that mineral base has that makes it burn *easier* than Synthetic ? Is it because they're base stock has more impurities to *burn* ???? If thats the case oh yes, impurities makes oil burn faster. YESSSssss !

Look, people can use Dino in their car all they want, I never had a problem with that.

Im defending Synthetic because it has no problems. What kind of proof do you anti-synthetic guys got anyway? All I saw was *he said* *oil guru said* *my friend said* *burns cleaner because its mineral*

dude, its the base-stock that determines if its Dino or Synthetic.

and ok lets go to the *burn easier* thing. What KIND of freaking engine oil can withstand the heat inside the engine? not to mention Dino oil has Group I/II/II+/*sometimes III which contain way more impurities in there compare to the Group IV/V brother(True Synthetic)

Group III can sometimes be considered as Synthetic(I dont think it is, but some companies like Castrol said they're)

So get ur facts straight, bring me some *useful* information, not bullshit from *whoever said*

I never said Im an oil expert, if u cant read then too bad. but Im pretty sure I know more than you and some other people, not to mention the *Castrol oil guru guy* at least when It comes to Rotary Engine.

This is some useful information: don't be an idiot spending money on synthetic and changing it every 1.5k miles (as you claim) when you can pour dino and change it every 7.5k miles. What is a rationale behind your theory? Rotarygod said so? buhahaha...

RotaryGod knows way more than I do, I did my own homework and research some of the stuff that he said, hey guess what, he was right.

I believe(base on my studies) that Synthetic Oil can protect my engine better, at least it resist heat better(prevent break down), and burns cleaner(less impurites)

if I can afford a 30K car, I think I can afford the few extra dollars for engine oil. All Premium fillups, etc.

Is that good enough for you ?

Hope this isn't considered to be a thread hijack, but the discussion has touched on the relative volatility and combustability of synthetic vs dino, with statements that synthetic is less volatile. That makes me wonder...

We all know what happens to recycled motor oil don't we? It doesn't get cleaned and re-refined, nor sent to feed hungry cars in the third world. It gets mixed with industrial heating oil, at dilutions such that when the mix is burned the stack emissions are within EPA limits.

If synthetics don't burn as readily as dino, and can leave deposits as shown in those two scary TSBs (one from Australia and one from the Netherlands, if I recall correctly), what happens when it's burned for fuel? Are industrial furnaces getting clogged because of people disposing of their used synthetic oils at recycling centers?

You should seriously consider your own radio show to disseminate that knowledge of yours. I guess that after spending 30K on a car you will keep it forever. Most of people are rational and don't like to spend more than they need. I drive the **** out of my rx8 on mineral oil that's changed roughly every 7k miles. No problems after 56k miles. And I don't really care whether the second or third owner will have any problems with it after hitting 200k miles because that car will be long gone from my garage.

I have had tons of advice on what to use... dealer says mineral, friends say semi synthetic, and full synthetic.

I wasnt sure. So I went to a number of websites, and at Quaker State's website, I read the following..

http://www.quakerstate.com/pages/car...know.asp#cycle

Myth
Using synthetic motor oil will void a manufacturer's warranty.

Fact
As long as the synthetic product meets the viscosity and performance requirements outlined in the vehicle’s owner’s manual, using synthetic oil will not interfere with the warranty coverage. However, one exception would be the rotary (Wankel) engine used in certain Mazda vehicles, which recommend against the use of synthetic oil in that particular engine.

Interesting.

That still won't convince nycgps - he spent 6 months in a library studying motor oils and now he's an expert.

People always pick what they want to see, and completely ignoring all the facts.

What about Royal Purple's site? Not to mention the *Mazda* oil , aka Idemitsu.

Idemitsu has been selling *FULL SYNTHETIC* oil for YEARS and its Rotary oil that Mazda use. So, tell me something my friend. If Idemitsu is lying, Mazda should've sue them long time ago. But if Idemitsu is not lying, so what Mazda did was nothing but cover their *** marketing.

(If japanese hurt your eyes, go here, Hey whats that ROTARY ENGINE OIL Label on their box?)

Point proven.

To the rest of the world, Im far from being an expert.

To you, oh yes Im an expert.

I know more than you, thats a fact.

Now it proves that you have nothing to back yourself up, and you starting to act like a 5 yr old kid.

I cannot do anything to a 5 yr old. They're too *smart* to know anything technical.

Again... (sorry to jump in again)..., but Idemisu is considered "Racing Oil". Under racing conditions, (as mentioned before), there are other variables to consider, therefore, they want to "extra" protect the engine under stress. But most likely, the oil will be changed again after the race.

Using Idemitsu on a regulary basis is not justified by normal use of the Rx8.

And I'll say it again... There are a lot of products out there that are just marketing scams....They take advantage of people like you to make money.

People like Mcdonalds.

But I like to go to WholeFoods to buy my food. Is it a waste? maybe, Is it more healthly ? Compare to Mcdonalds Hell yea.

Synthetic oil has proven results. I aint a cheap ***, and I think I can afford the price.
