pdxhak 08-25-2008 11:28 PM

repost...but good to see it again ;)

greg985 08-25-2008 11:42 PM

it looks good, but I dont think it is worth 169 bucks

Brettus 08-25-2008 11:46 PM

does it actually work ?

refugeefrompistons 08-25-2008 11:51 PM

Very useless, you should know by feel, if you don't then put it in neutral... please dont look down there while driving...

Ross_Dawg 08-26-2008 12:50 AM

lol that would be cool at first... but get annoying after awhile. Plus I love the feel of the stock knob when shifting :)

XlYesterdaYlX 08-26-2008 01:54 AM

lol cool, but i don't think i would want to look at the shifter while im driving.

Eight 08-26-2008 03:39 AM

looks cool, but all gimmick

laythor 08-26-2008 03:44 AM

here's a video of it being used : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4f2cN...eature=related

Goofy

chrism 08-26-2008 07:15 AM

if you dont know what gear your in you shouldnt be driving a stick.......

DMRH 08-26-2008 07:25 AM

Awesome.

I agree with the editorial. Its pretty cool

useless. it's gimmicky. i also have a newer Acura MDX with voice activated nav. it's great for calling people. I can say "call home" and it will do it. but they also gave you the ability to say stuff like "radio off" or "radio on". oh pleeeeeeeeease. the knob is right there under my finger. it's almost a joke.. so i can push a button, THEN tell it what to do, (maybe it misunderstands me and I do it 2-3 more times)... OR I can just push the real button once. stupid. but some people must think it's really cool to talk to their car and have it do what they want...

whatever...

just get a regular shift knob if you want one. i prefer the little ball style shifters. they fit great in your hand.

NgoRX8 08-26-2008 11:22 AM

the more useless stuff the better. people don't need it, they want it. same with many and all things.

reaper1 08-26-2008 12:21 PM

Probably will look cool at night

Socket7 08-26-2008 12:26 PM

That's going to be bright and obnoxious when trying to drive at night.

I do wonder how it tells what gear you're in.

Vyndictive 08-26-2008 12:26 PM

^
Does this remind anyone else of something you would see in the original night rider, esp. when the thing sits in neutral it looks like the red light bar ?

"What is it, Micheal?"

I do wonder how it tells what gear you're in.
This is a total guess... but do you think it has something to do with the angle that the knob rest at?
Like leaning forward and slightly left would be 1st - leaning back and slightly left would be 2nd. . . etc?
This logic works until Reverse... which confuses me

CyberPitz 08-26-2008 12:53 PM

It's either a balance...or you gotta wire the damn thing up somehow.

Either or, I'd be too afraid to get it as I'd just stare at it as I'm shifting, while seeing it switch numbers I bust out into a giggle fest.

kersh4w 08-26-2008 01:20 PM

you have to wire it for power. you have to teach it what 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc are. then it knows from the angle of the shift knob where its at.

as everyone has said, you should already know what gear you are in. but i think one should already know what gear they are in without looking down to the shift knob or feeling it. they should know by what rpm and speed they are at.

"3k rpm, 14 mph? oh thats first." etc..

TheNastyGuy 08-26-2008 05:09 PM

that would be perfect!!
If you were trying to teach your girlfriend how to drive a stick

reaper1 08-27-2008 05:38 AM

Yea, have a manual Noob look down to see what gear ......................smart .......

Vyndictive 08-27-2008 12:58 PM

you have to wire it for power. you have to teach it what 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc are. then it knows from the angle of the shift knob where its at.
So, you have to wire it for power. . . and then program the shifter?

yea, that seems like a totally fun idea. :uhh:

EDIT:

Okay, just my opinion. . . but this thing is really stupid and no one should buy one.
