More RX8 torture...

So, last night I dropped my friend off to pick up his MPV that was in for service. At the entrance to the showroom we were greeted by a beautiful yellow RX8....damn thing kept calling me all night...."buy me....buy me....BUY ME".

Make it stop!

-Eric

Buy it. It's just money. :D

BigWorm 05-13-2004 11:52 AM

Do it!...You won't be sorry..the car rules!

PaulieWalnuts 05-13-2004 11:55 AM

You're probably already hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt with a house, cars, credit cards, etc. What would another payment hurt... Buy it!

BigWorm 05-13-2004 12:00 PM

i second that...

Kain 05-13-2004 12:02 PM

you only live once! then you buy an 8 and start your life over!!!!

legokcen 05-13-2004 12:43 PM

They stop calling for you to but when you but it. Then it calls for you to even louder...

"Drive me.... Drive me..."

Astor 05-13-2004 12:46 PM

I would recommend a more routine schedule of your med's.

Astor 05-13-2004 12:47 PM

j/k, I had to have this car after seeing it, then really after driving it. It took a week and calling both the sales guy and finance guy liars, before I bought it.

Can someone translate this for me?

Every day, minute, second, you get older. You think you'll save and earn and buy your dream car next week, month, year, decade. You put it off and put it off, thinking you're being prudent.

Then, one day, you're middle-aged, and you've never had an exciting car because you waited and waited. And guess what? You just spent the prime years of your life driving a boring car. You'll never get that time back again. You only have maybe a decade left to enjoy driving. Your youth is fading ...

What's a little debt? You're still young. Enjoy life while you can. Before you ever reach the age where you could really "afford" the car, you may have died. Do it now. Carpe diem.

[Eidt: I just read your sig; looks like you're already on the right track.]

Gee, thats funny - my Yellow RX-8 said the same thing :)

Riccio 05-13-2004 01:27 PM

You won't regret it for a minute - go for it!

I say this as a person who has lived in DIVES so that I could drive nice cars in my "younger days". The RX8 is the most emotional and satisfying car I have ever owned.

HAHAHAHA! but for real, im 21, currently go to louisiana state univ in shreveport and work part time(barely making my payments :D ) never enjoyed anything as much as my 8... like someone else said, you are young, go for it!

I'm not ready to part with the TT yet...especially with the onset of summer but maybe if I can convince the little lady that it would be a worthwhile purchase for the fall...just maybe. :)

See, the only real reason I started looking at cars was because my wife and I started talking about a baby. She has a perfectly reasonable Subaru Outback (great all around car, although in my humble opinion needs a significant boost in power) that will accomodate a child comfortably. Me? Kinda rough getting a baby safely into a 2 seater (no back seat in the roadster). If I had to give up a sports car for a baby I would do it....but as far as Mazda and I are concerned, I don't have to! :)

The best part of the equation is that my wife wants me to keep the TT. :) [big smile] So, as I see it, the upside is adding an RX8 to the stable (although my wife won't see the point of doing so until a baby is closer to reality)...and the downside is replacing the TT with an RX8 (not much of a down to the downside, and its one that I can happily live with). The obstacle? My wife thinks a 530i is a more appropriate replacement/addition than the RX8. I love the 5 series...it's hard to argue against it once you've been behind the wheel but it's still not what I want right now. In the end, the decision is up to me since it's my daily driver but it's an obstacle nonetheless. I think she's slowly coming around...all in time. :)

i wish i had bought more things before i could afford them. funny thing is, as soon as you can afford stuff it isnt nearly as fun to get anymore.

Eric, I have to admit you had me fooled. You have been on this forum for a while now and I thought you already had the RX8. You see, now you have to buy it! It's already implanted "self subliminally" in your heart and mind!

I think he meant:

They stop calling for you to buy them, after you buy one. Then it calls to you even louder...

"Drive me.... Drive me..."

But I could be wrong.

I did because when I was just out of college, I wanted to buy a Datsun 240Z. My dad talked me out of it because I was going to boot camp and didn't know how long I would be in the States. Long story short I never left the states. Moment gone never to buy a "sports car again". When the Miata came out I was going to buy one for the wife. Too cheap to pay over list. But when I saw the 350Z I looked again. Then there was the 8 with the four seat and the creature comforts I was a goner plus I got it at plan 4 prices. It is a unique car that really does it all for me. I want to auto X it so bad.

rx8miami 05-14-2004 07:30 PM

Ok lets see.............MPV or 8? Buy the damn thing! You won't regret it! Unless you are a soccer mom which I doubt you are.
