Midpipe voiding warranty?

Thinking about buying a mid-pipe and I've heard rumors about them voiding engine warranty's? Anyone have a answer?
I searched and found a couple posts about this but they all looked fairly old. So does anyone know for sure?
Or does it just depend on your service manager and state?

Depends on the dealer, I had my last reman engine put it with my mid pipe on and they didn't say anything but every dealer is different. Some are mod friendly, others are not.

I called the Mazda dealer here in OK and he couldn't give me an exact answer so I'll stay away from the midpipe. He said some people are okay but others aren't

I believe removing the CAT is not allowed and can void your warranty. Or at the very least the dealership will request you reinstall it.

If your engine starts to sound like shit, just put the cat back on. Don't ask don't tell.

I have also heard rumor that the dealer takes note of any performance parts you have added while there for routine maintenance. It can come up later that you once had it on according to their records.

I asked the service rep about it when I first got my car from the dealer and he said, as everyone else has said, it all depends on where you take it. He told me for that specific dealership as long as I don't mess with the engine internals and I can provide proof of maintenance records, it wont be a problem.

Depending on the warranty work the dealership will actually take pictures of the car and send them to MNAO for their approval. They definitely take notes of what is installed on the car.

Not only that, Mazda has or had in the past people going through this forum. One person here had their warranty voided based on what he posted.

If you have to ask yourself 'should i put my oem parts back on when i go to the dealership?' please refer to my motto about bringing condom's on first dates...

Motto: Better to have it n' not need than need it not have it.

Works in both cases :bigok:

It really depends on the dealership, but if you have to bring it for warranty work, then just install it back.
