will the 3" super cat bolt onto the stock header and the 2.5" corksport catback

 

I dont have a supermeow...but I know my midpipe mated perfectly to the stock header...I am sure it the supermeow will mount no problems...from what I understand to mate the 3" to a 2.5" all you have to do is flex that donut around it...

 

there are reduction flanges on both ends. the RP supercat mates up fine with the stock header, no problem. the little lead gasket on the exhaust end, is not very flexible, not forgiving, and not cheap...ask me how I know...

 

so im guessing just use the stock lead gasket?

 

i know that on my RB mid-pipe, the outlet on the exhaust end that is south of the mounting flange, is smaller than the mid-pipe tubing, which I think is 3". That outlet fits inside the stock lead gasket with no trouble. I would suspect, that the RP supercat does the same thing, but I am not sure. Find Gimlet, he is a member here, he has the stock header, the RP supercat, and the Borla exhaust. Whenson417 is also a member here, he has all stock except the Rp supercat, so, if he can make that work, with no trouble, I bet it will work with just about any exhaust.

ok, heres my next predictable question, what are the power gains with a supercat. Itll make my car louder im guessing which is good, and my car will be street legal, but how much are the power gains if any at all? Or should I just go with a new HKS single, or go with a used Greddy!! Ugh, Im confused. I like all of them but dont know which one!!! I just want a little bit of power and some sound at a <400 price and Im trying not to be cheap about it ( believe it or not). I just dont know what to do

 

You get more "power" in this order...

midpipe > super cat > cat back

The power = "not much"

I don't think you will see near that much. that would be a noticeable gain. my only perception, is that I was pulling another 8 down the front straight, and the main difference was the mid-pipe. and it was not like I left him, I might have pulled 1-2 car lengths over a 1/4 mile, from a 95-100 mph starting point.

 

I have the RB now and wonder how much louder it would be? The RB is maybe a little too quite but I had a MS and it was a little too loud. How would the Super cat plus RB sound.

That's what I wanted to know. I would assume that if you throw a turbo into the equation the sound level would come down again. But unless you have that set up it would be to hard to guess the true sound level.

 

I have a Billy Boat (B&B). I opted not to get the mid pipe they offer. The look of the tips and the sound are great. Def feel an increase in power. Nothing staggering but noticeable. Big plus as mentioned is the sound. it has a nice rich tone. Not ricy at all.

 

wait, so you have the B&B? where did you get it from? hows the smell? CEL?

 

Vivid Racing. There was an initial burning smell that new exhaust sytems sometimes have. No noticeable smell now. As stated I kept the stock cat pipe in place. It was kind of loud at first, but now its broken in. I love it. Here's a link. They have a video on the page too. however, I believe the vid is with the midpipe.

Oh and on the note of this thread in regard to a single vs a dual exhaust and wanting an excessively loud exhaust, I can only say this: Single exhaust systems on an 8 look f**king retarded and sound even worse. I know a dude who got one and took it off in a month b/c it was sooooo lame (looks and sound). As far as wanting to have an irritatinly loud exhaust on an 8: Why? It's an 8 not a rice-bucket cheap-*** civic. Why would you want to f**ck it up by making it sound like one? Just my opinion. Do whatever you want. Go ahead and F**ck it up.

Midpipes, in my opinion, add little to nothing in performance. You pay 200+ bucks for a little extra horsepower. That's all you get..that and an exhaust note that sound like some fat special ed kid making fart noises in a tin can. F**k that. Also, not that I'm some tree hugging ***, but it's just environmentally irresponsible. It's one thing to buy and drive a car out of necessity, but it's totally differnt to make a conscious and deliberate descision to alter your vehicle knowing that the emissions on it are totally f**ked just for a few extra HP. That's just lame. On the other hand, if it is not your daily dirver and it is just for off road purposes then that's a differnt story. Not wanting to create flames here, just my opinion.

 

well im split between the midpipe and a high flow cat, because i want to get the RB race flash for more pull in the midrange while up top too, and the race flash melts the cats.

I get a bit passionate sometimes. I think the greater evil though is taking something as elegant and sophisticated like the 8 and turning it into something as lame as a high school kid's civic with a horrendous exhaust note. In my opinion, once you do that, you might as well go a step further and put one of those nasty big donkey wings on the trunk. F**k it, just make it truly tasteless and ricy. Yeah, and lots of carbon fiber accents too.

yea, a midpipe on a stock exhaust isnt ricey, i love carbon fiber, just hoods and trunks though
