Mazda service really fked up !!!

Since i got my 8 <May/2005> from Puente Hill Mazda. i regularly sent my 8 back there for oil change .... i trusted Mazda but last week i went my friend's shop to change spark plugs and do oil change, my friend and i found out .... my original paint on the oil tank is still there ! just like never touched. Does that mean my 8 never changed oil for 1 year ??? < Now i change my 8's oil every1000miles by myself http://show.imagehosting.us/show/149...07_1497307.jpg

It looks pretty damming. But look at the bolt. It looks like a wrench has been used on it. There is some wear there.
Take these pictures and the car to the service manager of an other dealership and see what they have to say. Also, I wouldn't identify, to this service manager, who has been performing your oil changes. I could color his answer in one way or another.
I just saw at the bottom your message about you now changing your own oil now. The paint is probably gone now and the only evidence is this picture. It will be hard to say if they did or didn't. Only the condition of the oil would tell.

I had a friend who used to put marks on his filters with a sharpie to make sure his service dept was changing them. He ran into the same issue.

He was bringing his car to a particular service dept for about 8 months, and found out they were draining his oil, refilling it, and just cleaning the oil filter. Not replacing it. Needless to say he doesnt go there anymore.

Dishonesty is running rampant in the car service industry right now. I'm always weary of mechanics, finding it hard to trust them right off the bat. I've heard so many bad stories...

Edit: I also meant to say, the dealership I bought my car from in CT has an excellent service dept. When they do an oil change, they give you your old filter (or just show it to you so you have peace of mind) and then they give you a quick run through of everything they did. Sometimes they'll top of your fluids, or clean your sparks, even vacuum the inside of your car, free of charge. Thats how you earn customers.

Sounds like you get the kind of service I get at mine! They don't show me my filter though, although if I asked them to they would. With the work invoice they give you a list of what they performed on your car at the time. I got my oil changed and my tires rotated yesterday while my mom was in surgery and they checked my brakes, tires, battery, plugs, starter, topped off all my fluids, and some other stuff I can't think of right now.

Free stuff is good. But you get a whole hearted feeling that their doing it for your safety, and to satisfy the customer. Always good.

Glad to know someone else out there gets good treatment.
