Do the math

Theoretically (using math), the rx8 can reach 175 mph if it was tuned and the limited was removed and given enough space to get up to that speed, especially with less drag (aka drafting a bigger car like a charger). Believe what you want. I know for a fact it is possible because I did it. If you don't believe me, just do the math, pay attention to how much mph you gain per 500 rpms in 6th gear then add that up to 9000 rpms. Keep in mind, this was an '04, I'm not sure if the gearing changed at all in newer models but on the '04, mathematically with no limiter, it is capable of reaching 175mph.

Unfortunately bench racing does not always work in the real world. Friction weight and drag are just a few issues that the calculator are not taking into account. Quite frankly, no I don't believe it. Take the blue pill Neo, and you will wake up and remember nothing.

Sorry, clearly you know what you're talking about.

It's cool guys. He did the math!

(Just curious... what math did you do?)

I'd wager, in certain conditions, that you could get it up to 184.

Really a Civic?????

A honda civic over a Mazda Rx-8??? Are you serious? I've went up against many Hondas especially the Civic and they stand no chance against the Mazda Rx-8 stock. Where I'm from Hondas are waaaayyy to common and sound like a lawnmower(hence that's what Honda makes). You're putting engineering of lawnmower against engineering of Japanese airplanes? I'll go next to Hondas and they'll just turn the opposite direction just to avoid me. Mazda Rx-8 is a great car and I have never felt better driving one.

Yeah, for real. No 8 can keep up with a riced out Civic!

O_o

Sarcasm, dude.

Calm down. Bumping an older thread to go on a rant about a pointless debate such as 1 entire brand of car being able to beat, or not beat, a single car from another brand isn't really worthwhile. Not to mention the reasoning that you give has nothing to do with actual performance metrics.
