mazda rx7 rt

if the rx 8 weight under 3.000 pound it should be as fast as the
95 rt version 0-60 5.3 1/4mile 14.1 maybe faster. 250hp is a lot for a little car and if that the case it should be suprior to the 350z
that weigth in a bit heavy at 3.330 pound.I think more like a
s2000 or a evolution that weigth in under 3000pound would be a
better comparsion issue.this is coming from a nissan fan.

rx8 is really sweet:D :D

Weight is the enemy here but I would be more concerned about handling than 0-60 and 1/4mile. It is better for the RX8 to be lighter and slower than heavier and faster. Straight line acceleration is not everything.

It's all about the power to weight ratio. (My weights might be off on the RX7 and S2K, so feel free to correct me)

RX7 2850 lb, 255 hp; 11.18 lb/hp
350Z 3225 lb (track model), 287 hp; 11.24 lb/hp
S2000 2800 lb, 240 hp; 11.67 lb/hp
RX-8 2970 (from Road&Track preview), 250 hp; 11.65 lb/hp

Based on those numbers, I think you could assume that the RX-8 will be about as fast as the S2K, but a tick slower than the RX7 and 350Z. It may even be too close to call, since I've seen quoted 1/4 mile times in the high 13 sec range for all of those cars (except the RX-8 of course, since it isn't out yet).
