I got the next email it reads:

Great news! The factory has accepted and confirmed your order for your all-new 2004 Mazda RX-8--a sports car like no other. Next, the factory will assign your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and begin production on your Mazda RX-8. We will send you a notification email with the VIN when that occurs--sometime in the next 1-3 months.

In the meantime, please visit the web site's gallery to view the latest Mazda RX-8 photos, 360o views and more.

Thanks again for your participation in our Mazda RX-8 Order program!

Just got mine and I mean just got it (8:00PM Eastern). I looked about 10 minutes ago and it wasn't their and now it is. Which works since it is tomorrow morning in Japan. I am glad the next email has come out I just wish we would get stuff more often. Not 1-3 months from now. This is a little vague since 3 months is June. I'm still glad that my order is proceeding.

I only got one, but I know there are two RX-8's in my name! Since I wasn't 100% sure about the blue, my dealer ordered an identical yellow in my name with his last unused allocation, so I can have the choice when they arrive. I love my dealer. :D (And it's not like he's gonna be stuck with a car he can't sell.)

I got mine also. Whoohoo! I hope that VIN gets decided sooner than in three months though.

For fear of sounding repetitious, I also received an email. FYI I ordered on 1/24/03. I did make one change to the color on 2/4/03 = Changed to Velocity Rec w/ Black & Red leather.

Finally, I can rest assured my order was properly placed after quite a few attempts to get a true confirmation from the dealership.

Got mine yesterday :D

Called dealer and he still says that computer shows production week 1 of April and Delivery in May. I am still being hopeful that June delivery is achieved.

no apparently it is forbidden to give anyone in oregon any satisfaction. no email follow ups, no cars drive around for us to catch a glimpse of and no "rev it up" with special invites to drive the rx8.:mad: :mad:

Finally, it's here. It showed up last night. Now I can sleep better at nights......

For those who received their emails, did any of your orders get submitted by the dealer in February?

My dealer claims my order went out on 2/17 but I doubt he included my email address and I haven't received an email yet :confused: ...

Well, my "supposed" order was placed on January 10. According to Ashley at Mazda USA :o

Here were my ordering dilemmas:

I placed my order on 1/8/03 @ 11:00 PM.

Received an email the next day, that they would put my on a wait list.

Placed another order with a different dealer on 1/10/03:

Received an email, the next day, they had no idea what I was talking about.

Called a dealer on 1/12/03. They said no problem, and they would call me back because they needed to talk to their General Manager re: the details. After a week and a few emails, I gave up.

Called a dealer (Stockton Mazda), now it's 1/19/03. He says, he knows of the program, and will get my preorder going.

For some reason, it couldn't get in the computer until 1/28/03. But, I am not faulting him. He is the only one who could get it done, and has been great in keeping me informed.

But for some reason, the order went in on 1/28/03, but Mazda didn't confirm it until 2/13/03.

I got my confirmation from Mazda when everyone got their's: 3/19/03.
