Mazda Posts Article Series On Rotary Production

Thank you to MrILO who brought this to my attention.
This is the most detailed information I've seen about Mazda's continued rotary engine production since I joined the forum in 2012.
A must read.

That's a neat article. Kinda reminds me of Porsche's continued commitment to support classic 911s.

While I appreciate this craftsmanship artistry, I cannot help but wonder the fallibility of humans when it comes to modern precision manufacturing. Some of these folks should be playing bingo or shuffleboards than inspecting apex grooves.

Thanks for sharing!

I resemble that remark.

I'm a 61 year old CNC machinist.
A lot of us older skilled machinists, assemblers, etc. have spent a lifetime honing our craft.

I'd much rather have older, more experienced craftsmen building my engine than some assembly line that will often let defects
go by for hundreds of units at a time resulting in massive recalls later.

Agree 100%.

BC: so true.
a big chunk of the SevenStock planning group was actually out in Japan a few years ago and thanks to Kobi-San were given a tour of the RE manufacturing plant. They came back and said it was awe inspiring at how a small group of engineers have kept it going but also that most of them were still around back when the FC was in production.
lots of older skilled machinists still holding it down for the RE community. Makes me wonder what happens when they finally decide to retire....

It said somewhere in there that the one guy had only been there a year and a half, and another guy not much longer. They're still bringing in new blood.

I know there’s a thread on here somewhere that lists the RX8 production numbers but can’t seem to find it …
