Mazda Engineers RULE!!!
I know this may seem silly but....
Anyone actually opened their trunk after it has rained or the trunk got wet in some other fashion? Notice how when you open the trunk it does not dump all that water into the cargo area? I know this sounds silly, but this is one of the few cars I have ever seen that does not drench the inside of the cargo area like that. I carry two laptops to and from work every day and the bags go in the trunk. In my crown vic I would have to pop the trunk and let the water roll off for a few seconds before I could open up all the way. If I didn't the carpet and everything in the trunk would get soaked. Even with the "draining" procedure it would still get some water in there. From silly little things like the rotary symbol in the headlights to the trunk lid not soaking your stuff.... The Engineers at Mazda seem to have really thought this car through. Now we just have to see if it will last 200k miles. =) |
I remember an older Audi A4 a co-worker had, drowned his lapton when he opened his boot.

Hey, making fun of the 3rd gen RX-7's "undocumented feature" of automatically washing your cargo is unfair ;) .
Automatic cargo washing- I love it! Always fun to make design flaws sound like features. :)
that's what we software engineers do
or, more correctly, what our managers do :D |
I indeed noticed this feature and was very appreciative.
I also had a satellite radio antenna installed on the rear deck--it is very small-- but worried that it might leak. Doesn't. The seals are generous enough to accommodate the wire. Car is very well made in many respects. |
no doubt, props to mazda engineers for creating the rx7 and rx8 and the upcoming twin turbo 7 'round '07
Man I don't know what kind of cars you've all been driving, but even my 1966 Mustang drained the water from the trunk away from the cargo.
lol ^^
this is one of the things i posted in the "little things" thread.
my 99 protege has it. I've always taken it for granted
hmm... my GF's 93 MX-6 does that and my Solara too. Did older cars really had auto-cargo-washers? :D
Haha yea, 200k miles is the next thing. I know that mazda has very reliable cars. My friends 323 went 300k miles. wow
but what's even more amazing is the 700k miles acura integra that i saw before! to be more exact it had 759k miles lolz |
