Mazda Dexelia 5W-20 / 5W-30
Hi all,
I would like to ask if the Mazda RX-8 officially recommended oil in the states is Dexelia 5W-20 ???. http://img188.imageshack.us/img188/1405/dexelia.jpg In Europe and specifically in Greece Mazda officially recommended oil for RX-8 is Dexelia 5W-30. |
America is the only place they say to use 5w-20 and majority agrees that the oil is too thin. i personally run 5w-30.
|
yeah 5w20 just dont cut it. i just upgraded to 5w30. i use Castrol non syenthetic 5w30 and run alot more smoother.
|
*cough* *cough* 10w30 *cough* *cough*
:) |
....but cheapo 10w30 is the worst thing you could do.....
There is no cheapo 5w20 or 5w30, they need expensive 'ingredients' to meet the specs. S |
^tiz very true. :yesnod:
|
wait ....so u guys are saying 5w30 is better that 5w20 ? then maybe i should change....?
|
Use a good 5w30.
5w20 is just pathetic :) |
Search! If we got a dollar for every oil thread, we'd all be rich. Use 5W-30.

RUN FOR THE HILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Another OIL THREAD!!!! RUN WHILE YOU STILL CAN! |
The OP doesn't owe anyone anything. His question was more on whether Mazda pushed Dexelia, rather than the weight.
That's a good question. AFAIK, Mazda does not push any particular brand of oil. Ken |
Yes, the weight in the states is 5W-20 this is known. However, when you go to a dealer for a service he uses Dexelia 5W-20 or another brand ?
Yes my question has to do with the Brand of the recommended oil in the states. Someone will say that the recommended oil is "Mazda Oil", Yes but this Mazda oil where does it come from? Dexelia? Total ? where? |
