Maybe I need help! I love my car too much...

Is it just me??
I find my self most of my free time...
Either:
1) Looking at mods in random web pages
2) Checking eBay, maybe someone has a great deal in some accessory for my 8...
3) Going into my garage and just starring at it..... Wondering what I would do without it...
4) Spending a lot of my time in the fallowing WebPages: www.rx8club.com, ohiorotaries.com, rx8media.com, rotarynews.com, mazda.com, cardomain.com, and other random rx8 pages I put my hands on it!!
5) Wishing I had some extra money so I can Turbo my baby...
6) Washing it once a week... sometimes 2 times depending how barely dirty it gets.
7) The girlfriend gets mad at me every time that I tell her that I was in a date with my 8...
8) Going to Google video and hoping someone added a new video related with the 8...
9) Wondering how can it be possible... I am this nut about a car????

I am probably crazy... anyhow I just wanted to get that out of my chest!

This is one of the signs that this may be a classic car!

BoosTED 03-22-2007 02:29 AM

I just had an Intellitxt ad ask me what I thought PT meant with a picture of the PT Cruiser.

First thing that came to mind is potty trained. :dunno:

Agreed, and pigs flying will be the next sign!

You aren't the only one. I am in and out of this site a dozen times a day. And I just go in the garage for no good reason just to sit in the car. I walked around the car with a bottle of Windex and remove dirts on the rims on a regular basis. Can't help it but hey it made me happy.

OzarkMania 03-22-2007 08:14 AM

Speaking of rx8 Obsession Syndrome and PT Cruisers...

A few weeks ago I took my wife to visit an artist friend of ours. He had never seen my car before and we parked in front of a wall of glass that is the front of his gallery. I pulled in next to a PT Cruiser - the only other car out front.

We're walking along the length of his gallery talking about various pieces, etc... I keep stealing glances at my car and finally he looks too and says, "Wow! look at that PT Cruiser! that is such a cool car." I look him in the eyes searching for clues that he was joking. Seeing none, I was too dumb founded to speak and just let it go.

We continue walking along, after a few minutes he turns again and says, "Wow, I wonder who owns that PT Cruiser?" I grab him by the shoulders and exclaim, "JD! you are killing me man, what about that RX8 right next to it!?!" He looks at me and goes, "Oh, I'm not really into sports cars...".

We eventually bought a small sculpture and it was unclear if it would fit in the trunk. (it did!) So I told him I would run it out to check. He goes, "you mean that thing has a trunk?" Now he is pulling my chain so I drag him out to look at it. He finally had to admit that it was a pretty cool car... Sheeeze

I have my own crazy habits too, so don't feel bad.

- House is full of food & drink, but I go out to get McDonald's drive thru anyways... but not just any McD's - the one that's 15 miles from home.

- I get home from work with HOURS of freetime, look at my filthy-as-fuck car and think "OK - That's IT. She get's washed NOW." I go inside, change out of my work clothes, walk outside, see my car... stare.... stare.... ah screw it, I'll wash it tomorrow! Joyride time!

- I put about 100 miles on my car a day, yet the drive from home to work to lunch to work, to home doesn't even round UP to 10 miles.

- The act of pressing the mute button every time I downshift has become so automatic that I'll press the mute button when the stereo system isn't even on.

- 16 years of musical training now serves no purpose other than to let me recognize the sound my engine at 7.5k RPMs, which means I've hit the speed limit if I'm in 2nd gear.

- After every episode of "FutureCar" I had to take a 2½ break to go take my car out around all of my favorite turns, all the while reminding myself each time "In 10 years, I can take them even FASTER"

Personally I think you've fooled yourself into thinking you're this obsessed because it seems noble or something to you. And telling us how obsessed you are is probably an attempt to look cool or something.

But what do I know. I spend pretty much all day on this site and I don't even work here.

reaper1 03-22-2007 12:36 PM

Some people on here, need to get a room.

Jedi54 03-22-2007 02:05 PM

welcome to the club! When you spend 6-8 hours in a single day detailing your car then I think you're officially crazy... oh wait,...nvm. :(

Hey, it's all about "post count" . . . Gotta' do whatever it takes to get it up.

Subdivisions 03-23-2007 03:53 PM

Your third comment about " just staring at the car" is a little troubling.
But you are probably still sane. Just "slightly" nuts like the rest of us.

Ok, Mr. Music, what pitch is that? :git:

RoXanneBlack8 03-23-2007 05:40 PM

a lower pitch than me hittin the speed limit in second at 9500 rpms!!!!!!

get the manual and ud love it even more

i swear, if the rx8 wasnt out, i dont kno what car id SETTLE for. i cant see myself owning a piston car ever again. they r loud and they run rough and they cant take a beating like this thing can.

march 29th will be 1 year and i have almost 21,000 miles on it. i drive, just to drive, i dont care where i go, i go to the BP gas station 20 milesa away and i pass 2 of them on the way there, i dont care!!!!!!!

i may not spend hours staring at it, i find it more fun spending hours DRIVING it.
i hope the next rx8 is direct injected, ill be next in line to buy one of those when my payment is done.....

its so nice to see a positive thread

jarnone xo 03-24-2007 11:10 PM

kevsRX8 04-16-2007 09:05 PM

I have had my 8 for one year and 5 days. 30,778 miles. Not a single one wasted. I love it and can't wait to to drive it to work tomorrow.

The insanity has no cure.

OzarkMania 04-18-2007 06:59 AM

On those rare occasions when my wife drives it I hang out at the window so I can watch it in motion. Lots of good angles backing down the drive and down the street. I'm starting to worry about myself. :scared:
