Okay so i put my rx8 on craigslist not long ago in hopes for a Z to come my way.

And i think an angel from heaven just contacted me.

But I need your opinion on the deal.

It's a 2003, with 72k miles

List of upgrades: full hks exhaust, strup test pipes, dc headers, fully wrapped, BC racing coilovers, aem short ram, short shifter, stage 3 6- puck clutch, light weight flywheel, lightweight pulleys, kenectic intake plenium, 650cc injectors, HKS hi flow rail and complete tune from dynosty in Louisville.

My car is a 2006 Grand Touring Rx8 with 41k miles. It has an aftermarket body kit, with enkei wheels, aem intake, exotic speed exhaust, fully loaded, leather interior etc.

Yours has really low miles man :-) It appears that your car is more for show than a track queen like a lot of others so from a practical viewpoint and the fact that you want a Z car I would say go for it. His car looks pretty damn clean. Just know that you'll have no backseat now and a small boot. It will also feel like driving a suburban compared to the 8 :-( I've driven both and the Z just feels noisy and sloppy. I won't deny that they are good looking cars though ;-)

keep yor 8 imo...

nycgps 01-23-2013 10:42 PM

vtec just kicked in y0!!!! ...

oh wait ...

dont cry when the vq drink oil faster than anything u have seen before ...

Ravioli 01-23-2013 10:55 PM

Pfft who needs practicality when you don't have kids? ;)

Considering a trade-in to a 370, so I'm in a similar situation.

pistonhater 01-23-2013 10:59 PM

If the trade was for a 370, then I would say go for it.

Your cars has a LOT less miles on the clock.

If you think early RX-8s had issues, look around for info on the 350s. You'll probably be quickly disappointed. Oil issues are on top of the list.

And the ride is not even close. Very rough, the car feels heavy. Visibility is really bad as well.

The 350 feels more powerful going on a straight line. But that's about it with that car.

ShinkaEvo 01-24-2013 12:08 AM

Keep your 8.
Might as well get 370, 350's handling is terrible...
You'll need certain skill+modification to keep up with stock 8 on the corners.
If you like straight line, might as well get muscle car...

TopGear8 01-24-2013 02:19 AM

Don't do it.

ASH8 01-24-2013 02:51 AM

backward move..

LifeAfterRx8 01-24-2013 06:12 AM

I am not saying this because I am biased towards the 8, I would not go with the Z.

Nissan is by far my 2nd favorite car company, I almost considered purchasing a 350z after I sold my first 8. I've driven one, the exhaust sounds like a cow mooing, but I've gotten used to it and eventually grew to like it. The 350z's interior is so tacky and cheap, everything seems out of place and poor quality. The steering response is heavy, unresponsive and feels like you're driving an SUV. It does have more torque and you can gain a lot of power easier than a rotary, but do not think that engine is more reliable, they have tons of issues, especially the '03.

Never buy a modded car, usually that means it was beat on, something's wrong with it and they're trying to get rid of it before dumping more money into it. I'd keep the 8.

Nopstnz8 01-24-2013 06:21 AM

^^+1 Keep the 8

8 Maniac 01-24-2013 06:30 AM

Just to clarify: Are you telling us you will be getting a Z and you want our opinion on this exact deal? Or do you want our opinions in general about trading to a Z?

monchie 01-24-2013 09:52 PM

That Z is slammed! If i were you, i'll keep the rx8 for sure. It is really up to you to make the final decision, were just giving you our opinions. Anyway, good luck whatever you decide to do.

aaronspeed 01-25-2013 06:08 AM

I am thinking the same move myself. The Nissan has better parts support from the aftermarket. The only thing I don't like is the dash seems so dated.

altspace 01-25-2013 06:32 AM

That's one thing I love about the RX-8 over the Z is the interior. You spend 90% of your time behind the wheel, so it should look and feel awesome!

Woah, before we make any hasty decision, you'r forgetting the most important part.

Compression Test

olddragger 01-25-2013 08:33 AM

dont do it--even the suspension is not as adjustable as ours are.
What is motivating the switch? Just want something different?

My Gr8 8 01-25-2013 01:51 PM

I just want something more sportier, i feel like the 350 is more of a head turner.

bose 01-25-2013 02:18 PM

You want it, get it. Why do you care what others opinions are? I think 350z's are chick cars, so if you own a vagina I'd say it's a win.

Personal preference on the head tuner, but in no way is a 350 sportier than an 8.
I've driven both. 8, runs laps around a 350 in performance and feel.

Buddies Tiburon came with a life time supply of tampax in the glove box, now thats a win.

j9fd3s 01-25-2013 05:34 PM

i wouldn't do it, the Z is fat, lame ugly and ugly.

Carbon Fibr 01-29-2013 02:40 PM

iv had a 350z, gets boring.
& their so common in the tuning schene now.

Rorschach 01-29-2013 02:54 PM

^true story, you see a lot of Z's around nowadays 350 as well as 370.

If I were going to go for a Z I wouldn't settle for anything less than a 370z nismo pkg. Everything else is just to common for my taste. Just my opinion.

Also, how could you live without your exoticspeed exhaust??

Chris 01-29-2013 03:47 PM

the 370 anniversary is nice too
