Maximum Tire width??

I'm looking to get set up with a set of wheels really soon. The problem is I'm getting different answers when it comes to the tire width. I want to go with 19" wheels (20 look horible in my opinion) but don't know how wide I can go with out rubbing. I want to go as wide as possible for maximum grip.

9''
9.5"
can I get away with 10"

Anyone know?

you can do 9.5 i think......as long as your not lowered

Discount Tire told me you could go 10" in the back, but that was for an 18" wheel. I think they told me 9" was the most in front, but they also told me I couldn't go lower than a +42mm offset, and I am running a +38 right now. I think there is going to be a difference between what Mazda claims the threshold to be, and what the threshold actually is.

I have 245s on all four corners on my car - no problems. Don't know the inch size.

why would 19s look good but 20s will look horrible. It would make more sense if you said the ride would be horrible, but why would it look horrible. But hey thats your opinion.

i had 8.5 for front which was 225 width and 9.5 rear which was 265 rear on my previous 8 and it runs perfectly normal and you can feel that your car has more grip. i wouldve got 275 on the rear, but i traded this car in with the rims for a manual white 8. well im going to get some volks sometimes in the future with 275 in the rear. anyways...ive seen many people that done it and theyre happy with it. heres some pic of my previous 8..enjoy! :wink2:

Stick with stock and lower it. Add some 245/40's and you will be set, but that is my taste.

I think wider 18's are your best bet.
