Manual: Do you hear a noise while changing gears?

K i am new to Manual driving, so I am not accustomed to any "normal" noises that go along with it

I hear a noise everytime I change gears from 1-2. Is that normal. It just sounds like gear changing bt wasn't sure if it was normal or not.

what kind of noise

Something like 'Crrick Crick'

It definetly sounds like gears changing, just wasn't sure if it was supposed to make that sound.

Do you hear any noise while changing gears, any at all?

park your car in the garage, roll down your windows, and change gears (while the car is off), you will hear the gears moving around and clicking. I would bet what you're hearing is normal.

yea I can mostly only hear it in my Parking garage. So I am thinking its normal.

On the RX8 you are practically sitting on the transmission. So yeah, you will hear everything..

As long as it's not excessivly loud, it's normal, especially between 1st to 2nd. If i'm not mistaken, it sounds somewhat like a "ca-chink" kinda sound. Mine has did that since brand new with 8 miles on it...so i'd assume it's completely normal.

My GUESS would likely be that 2nd gear has double/triple/reinforced syncros, as opposed to most other gears only having 1. If this be the case, it would make the longesvity and durability of shifting to be MUCH greater. the SN-95 Cobras (96-98) could have certainly taken a few notes on that one. Good gosh.

When I shift into a gear to get out of my parking space at work, generally putting it in reverse, I can hear the gears sounds because of echoing in the enclosed space. Most of the time I don't notice it all except in the parking garage. I can also sometimes hear it going from first to second or from neutral to first if I am parked. It's pretty normal.

Besides the snick, I hear a little gear/synchro whine between each shift. I've just assumed that's normal. <declutch>wrrrrr<shift>mm<clutch>
