Major Rim Damage to my R3, steering wrong now too
 

Not a great start to 2011, so day I was running to the store and a dog jumps out in front of me and I drop the right front off the road and of course hit the biggest hole anywhere and it screws the backside of my right front rim and also now my steering wheel is also not centered going straight but, at about 11:50 instead of 12:00 .. could it just be the rim and need of an alignment or could something else be bent. I bent one last March that was not this bad and it didn't screw up the steering and had a local Alloy Rim repair guy fix the rim back 100% for $100.00 bucks, just not sure he can fix it this time or what else might be wrong.. :(

that wheel is trashed, don't even bother to try to repair them, one piece forged alloy wheel should NOT be repaired.

Better call insurance, this will be expensive :(

Take it to a good shop..they will figure out what happenned. An alignment rack is the asiest way to see where the damage is..unless it's really obvious

Easy to bend the upper and lower control arms and the tie rod ends.....

Ouch, good luck getting it fixed.

Update: had the rim repaired yesterday $100.00, and then had Mazda do an alignment no damage thank God. All is good again. Thanks to Alloy Wheel Repair on fixing the rim amazing job.

Whoa, that seemed easy enough. Glad everything looks & feels good right now, but please do keep an eye on that sensitive part of the vehicle for the future....Though I'm hoping you're good to go.

I am not surprised that it was repairable. Though it is definitely better to replace the wheel instead of repairing due to basic material science that once alloy is bent and reshaped, it will lose a percentage of its structural integrity. In this case the bend is to such a small degree, the difference will clearly not matter once the wheel is refinished to its original shape (even if it is a forged allow) and it looks like the alloy hasn't cracked.. Being that the damage is only on the inside, there is even less work to do because the visual damage cannot be seen.

It's not the first sadly, I choose not to post pics of one :) Glad to see you got it repaired though. I have had a few wheels repaired by wheelsamerica in the past and they have always done a A+ job. They even repaired a $3,000.00 19" AMG wheel from my bosses CL65 to like new condition.

Here go u go, this is what happens when u spin out and do a 180 in to a curb :( $1,400 for 1 new rim

I highly recommend Wheel Collision Center in Bath PA near Allentown. www.wheelcollision.com the repair alloys to OEM specs using a patented process. They have been around since the early 90s. I cracked a rim on my 8 in a nasty pothole, even they said not repairable but they had a reconditioned rim in stock for 2/3rds the price of a new rim. They also repaired one of my winter rims. Really good workmanship.

uhm well you could destroy the entire front end, and end up paying thousands instead of just repairing a wheel and only paying 100 plus the alignment.

Kudos to the car though, for not breaking a control arm, or any joints in the front suspension. Getting away with only wheel damage is sick. Do keep in mind the metal will be much more brittle now.
