Low oil = low performance?

I recently found my engine bogging down below 4000 rpm every time I would step on the gas? This occured for several weeks before I bothered checking the oil. Usually it is close to full, but when I checked it, it was close to empty (still in normal range). I put in a quart and it was close to full again. My engine woke up, and the problem stopped. I did a search on this, and found comments on the type of oil used, etc. My thinking is that the engine computer detected the low oil, and hampered the engine to prevent me from destroying it with hard excelleration. What do you guys think?

Don't know, but you need to check your oil more often. I find it hard to believe you lost that much in a month. You sure you don't have a leak or that it wasn't way longer than a month?

oil!

hmmm ive noticed somethig like that but my dealership told me that mazda required them to overfill past the full line.. and yes everytime i go in its overfilled. my car runns better too.. maybe im going crazy but iono..

now i do my own oil changes and i to overfill them but not by much i never let it go past the halfway mark NEVER its always above the full line.. by over fill i mean just a tad bit over the full line i dont mean just pour oil in there till it pours out haha

i run 5w-30 synthetic royal purple and my car runs better!!! been doint hat forr 20K miles already.. only thing is my gas mileage went down by a bit.. i guess since its thicker iono
