low dyno

I just had my 8 dyno'd and it seems low; am I correct in thinking this. Mods: unorthodox pulleys, nology hot wires, agency exhaust, k&n v. 2 intake. Only 152 horsepower and 122 torque on a dynojet.

laythor 03-21-2011 11:53 AM

manual or automatic?

Jedi54 03-21-2011 11:54 AM

an auto should have more tq then that (hp is in line with auto)
:dunno:

mustang dyno?

how old are your plugs? coils? cat?

oltmann 03-21-2011 11:56 AM

Do you have the chart?
Know what other cars were running on that dyno?

A single dyno can't really be used for comparison between other cars run on other dynos.

Just wondering though, coils new?

mikeferrell 03-21-2011 11:57 AM

Its a stick

mikeferrell 03-21-2011 11:58 AM

Its a stick, and coils are only about 10k miles on em.

laythor 03-21-2011 12:00 PM

yup, that's low. Compression test?

terch1 03-21-2011 12:00 PM

Yeah that seems a little low for a manual.

mikeferrell 03-21-2011 12:01 PM

How do I go about getting a compression test?

laythor 03-21-2011 12:03 PM

you can take it to dealer unless someone local has a tester you can use.
if the compression is low then it's replacement engine time

mikeferrell 03-21-2011 12:05 PM

Would it be covered by warranty? I have 65000 miles and its an 05'

bse50 03-21-2011 12:05 PM

Nology wires are crap. K&N typhoon is crap.
Looks like you're also going to need a new engine.

laythor 03-21-2011 12:06 PM

it would be covered under warranty.

Jedi54 03-21-2011 12:12 PM

fixed.

Yeah the dealership has done all the work on my car, I explained to service manager that I dyno'd it and it was low. He said "so you were on the freeway and you felt a loss of power, correct? " so I'm dropping it off today. Hopefully new engine.

Jedi54 03-21-2011 12:20 PM

say "yes, that's EXACTLY what happened sir."

don't mention the dyno again.
pretty sure you were on the freeway and felt a big loss of power, riiiiigh??? :suspect:

mikeferrell 03-21-2011 12:29 PM

Yeah. That's what I said. He's cool about it. He said hell try to warrantyout anything he can

bse50 03-21-2011 12:35 PM

Urgh... I'm sorry but butt dynos don't work. Next time just say the truth and don't throw numbers around ;)

Good luck with that dealership. Just make sure they're not assholes like other dealerships are. Keep us updated.

Your lucky the SM was cool, never never never "" "" "" "" tell dealerships more than they need to know.

usafrotard 03-21-2011 09:05 PM

Which dealer are you taking it to?

DarkBrew 03-21-2011 09:37 PM

My car had a similar dyno pull and turned out to have a leaking SSV vacuum actuator.
You can check the GTA Dyno day in the Canada forum starting page 10 of the thread.
I posted the dyno chart, AP logs etc.

:SHOCKED:so the dealership says that it's not the compression, he said that he tried to warranty it out but that it needs a tune up, new spark plugs, and the sea foam stuff. i'm getting it detailed too. uhg, gonna cost about 800$ this is on top of the other 2,800$ i've spent on it last month (new emissions fan, new o2 sensor, mazdaspeed side skirts, rear bumper, installation, stainless steel braided clutch line, new tires, oil change) uhg, this car is bleeding money!

8 Maniac 03-23-2011 03:14 PM

Sounds way too expensive... if it's just plugs and sea foam, find someone local to help you out. That should not cost that much.

If your compression is good then you do not NEED the seafoam treatment.
And unless you see the CEL flashing at high RPM you do not NEED plugs, wires, coils.

Get your hands on a vacuum tester and check for vacuum leaks on the actuators.
