Loose Steering.
over the last year or so, it seems my steering is loosened. it makes a rubbing noise when i turn the wheel when not moving, dont know if that has to do with anything here tho. is there anyway to tighten the steering?

If by "loosening" you mean that there is an impreciseness in the center of the steering direction, then some possibilities:
- front alignment is off - lower u-joint on the steering shaft is no longer bolted securely, and it's allowing the u-joint to lose it's grip on the steering shaft - suspension bushings are failing. - steering rack is failing |
well by loosening I mean, not as responsive. seems I have to turn the wheel more to get the car to turn. if thats what your talking about them thanks!

:dunno: You need to clarify, your grammar is too poor to understand.

Possibly worn out tie rod ends. Have you had a tire shop look at it yet?
|
That is dangerous. Your steering could fail at anytime. Have it checked by a certified mechanic as soon as possible.

Part number: NE51-32-850 JOINT,STEERING About 2-2.5 hours labor to put in. If a dealer recommends replacing the rack, DO THE JOINT FIRST. It's a sub $100 part, the electric steering rack is over $1k. |
