Long Distance Comfort
My wife and I just went on a 1200 mile trip and I was amazed at the ease and comfort of the 8 even during prolonged driving. I was in the driver's seat for 10 hours straight during a leg and didn't feel very fatigued or sore at all. I love this car! Just wanted to share. Got a 7 hour per leg trip coming up in a couple of weeks and I can't wait. :)

How was the gas milage? I'm about to make a similar trip and am wonderinng if it would cost me less to fly than pay for gas.

1200 miles / 20 mpg x $2.20 per gallon =$132

yup this car is built to keep the driver and passenger comfortable. ive put 2200 miles in about a month and i have to say not one of those was uncomfortable, the car cradles you with love :)

We have been on a couple of extended trips, and surprisingly the RX-8 is comfortable for long stretches.

i agree. my 8 has to be the most comfortable car for longdistance driving i have ever had, not to mention the most fun.

What about the passenger? Thats what I'm more concerned about. GOTTA MAKE THE WOMEN FEEL COMFORTABLE. YESYESYESYEYSESE.mmMM

My ongoing average has been 19.659 with a min of 17.399 which was during an autocross weekend, and max of 23.712 which was during this last trip. Most of my driving has been relatively spirited city driving (except when the wife is in the car). All of my fillups have been with regular unleaded gas. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with the gas milage. Hope this helps. |
Thanks for the feedback, I figure I might as well start using regular unleaded (instead of super) too, if it doesn't effect the performance too much.

1st 10,000 miles I used 91 octane, with the last 5,000 miles using 87 octane.
I cannot tell much of a performance difference. At least not $ .20/gallon worth. |
I did a trip with 3 other friends(all of us about 6ft tall). It wasn't long, only 100km but we travelled at night. The great thing is they all fell asleep as I was driving! And the enjoyed it! When we reached our destination they all gave thumbs up for comfort and said how smooth it was! Amazing, isn't it?
