LoJack Sucks
I have lojack on my 8 and I added early warning lojack so if my car moves without the lojack remote on my keychain they call me.
So I started to get a bunch of false alarms where lojack calls me but my car has not been stolen. They told me to change the battery in the lojack remote which I have. The false alarms continue and they tell me "it happens sometimes" I thought lojack is one of the best. Now everyother day I get false alarms and phone calls from lojack and the five friends of mine they also notify when the alarm goes off. |
Wow Mike - that does SUCK - I have the same system in 2 of my cars (including the RX8) - and if that happened, I'd be pretty upset! (This is NOT an inexpensive system!!!)

don't mean to laugh mike, but that's pretty funny... I could just see all of your friends calling you all freaked out-
Hope they fix it soon for you... |
my friends do call
and they hate me now |
Hey Mike,
I had the same problem, right from the get go. I even had the batteries handy (yes I have CR2032's@home) and it still didn't fix the problem. It took a tech three times to determine the unit needed to be switched out. I haven't had a problem since (Yes I did test it to make sure it was still activated). Big lesson I learned from this all, though, is there is a 20 minute lag before the notification. My car could be half way to Latin America by then. At least out of LoJack range. Still like the peace of mind. dag |
so I should have a tech come out to my home to replace it?

I had a similar experience as dag, but the LoJack folks just sent out a new set of key fobs, set for my system. That was many months ago and not a false alarm since. Maybe some of the early fobs had problems? The system in the car seems to work as advertised.
The early warning system is pretty active, so it looks like the batteries need replacing more often than once/year. In fact, tech support recommends a six month battery replacement period for both key fobs. If you notice an occassional light-flash from the corner of your key fob, it's time to replace the battery. Good luck, -jd. |

As JDL said, they tried getting my key fobs to work, and they didn't, so I think instead of farting around anymore, they played the safe card and replaced the whole thing instead of just the key fobs. It only took about 45 minutes. dag |
I had lojack installed on a previous car. It was installed by the dealer. Everytime I had an electrical problem they blamed it on the lojack. Fianlly had them take it out and got my money back.

You're probably better off with Viper's GPS tracking system than Lojack.
