Is a little shudder at idle normal?

I did the search and I looked at the TSB, and my car doesn't fall into the VIN range for the cracked engine mounts.

But I still get a slight shudder at idle and I can hear the vibrations from the drivers door and from the seat. It comes in pulses and isn't constant.

Is this normal? I have an '05 built in May 05.

My 05 does that as well, I think it's just the a/c compressor kicking on and off as it cycles.

Rinkadink 07-12-2006 12:14 AM

My A/C was off. As was my vent fans.

SlowLude 07-12-2006 12:21 AM

Yup. Mine does that. It comes in cycles. Just do a few searches with different keywords about rough idle and enjoy a good night on the forum!

Thanks buddy. I'm going to the dealer tomorrow and I'll mention just in case there is any way to get rid of it. I'll keep you updated late tomorrow.

you think your ac was off- what vent configuration was selected?

My '05 does that all the time. With the AC on and with it off.
I think it's normal...

i get backfires too sometimes, and my build date was 5/2005 too. i think it's normal.

it's just the richness of the fuel misture at idle. sounds normal depending on the amount of vibration.

DrDiaboloco 07-12-2006 03:20 PM

The irony is that the Wankel is famous for being smooth... Just not at idle. :)

At least I hope not. Mine shakes like a cheap hotel's 25-cent bed at idle.
