light's on side mirror?

ok i don't know if this was posted before but, this is the first time i saw this. i don't know if its just j-spec rx8's or is it all universal thing. i even looked under the mirror and it did have the hole where you install them is this available or not ?

i included a PIC for all to look at.

Sorry if it was in the wrong form or if it was a repost.

It is a repost but never mind.
My J-spec 8 came with these 'puddle' lights. I believe the Euro and Aussie models also have it.

i shoulde never post AGINE!! :(

That's correct, the Aussie spec vehicle gets these 'puddle' lights.
Certainly a different feature, but I'm somewhat dubious as to their effectiveness.

Strangest thing I've ever seen!

The theory is that when you are approaching the vehicle and press unlock on your key fob, these 'puddle' lights turn on and illuminate the ground immediately below the door.
This is to ensure you don't step into a puddle before entering your car.

Must be a Japanese courtesy thing? :)

and to make sure no creep is lying under the car waiting to grab your ankle?

G8rboy 10-20-2004 11:20 AM

My Explorer has them, and in a dark parking lot they light up the whole side of the car when you unlock with the remote... I certainly would have liked to have them in the 8.

Maybe to check for scorpions also...

My Lincoln Mark VIII had them, a really nice feature.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who gets that feeling..., or like you're being watched with no one around... too many scary movies as a kid I think.

I don't think those puddle lights look useful, but I would like to see a turn indicator on the mirror.
