Keyed Car Club

So this morning I go out of my apartment building to go to work and my whole car is keyed... ( they used a razor blade according to body shop guy) so i get some paint and attempt to paint it. Not only does the pain not completely match but it looks like shit. So I go to the body shop and the guy says best thing is to paint the whole section that's messed up so i am trying to figure out.

WHAT COLOR SHOULD I PAINT MY RX8?

monchie 06-10-2011 07:04 PM

First things first, that is messed up on whoever did it. Secondly, do you have any enemies or anybody who don't like you or something? Anyway, you don't have to answer that, but the best way to fix it the right way is to paint the whole section were the damage is at. If your planning to just paint the whole car with a different color, then blue is my choice. It's really up to you anyway and hope you'll find out who did this stupid thing to your car. Good luck.

Wow..I had the same shit happen to me on my truck. Not good.
Question. You Painting it yourself or is a body shop doing it? If your doing it just paint it the same color it is then it all matches already...your jams, under the hood, trunk. If a shop is doing it id say a dark blue, Midnight Blue is my favorite:) looks good on any wheel choice.

PS Id watch out if your going to repaint it this soon after it happened. Sure they wont do it again? Got anything planned to prevent it?

Monchie you don't always have to have enemies to get your car keyed. My mom had her car keyed the whole way around right down to the metal for no apparent reason while she was in some store shopping. Its expensive to do a quality paint job on the whole car when that happens. :(

^My mom had someone take a bat to her car, bash the roof down, the C pillars down, and destroy the glass. The car was almost totalled out, any more damage and it would've been, it was so close. She has no enemies what so ever, but with gangs and wanna-be gangs in the area, they loved to fuck up whatever they could for no apparent reason.

That's horrible.. If you're getting the entire 8 painted, make sure it's done so everything matches if you change colors, that'd end up being more expensive obviously.

Is vandalism covered by your insurance policy? If so, get a professional to repaint it.

wrong, they have a reason.

the reason is that ---- they know they will not be able to afford anything decent except that pos Geo Metro or 1985 Civic their parents bought them 10 yrs ago, and deep down they know this will stay the same for the rest of their pathetic life. Jealously builds up, and there u go.

Assholes like these are perfect example

They go thru the whole stupid process just to get to ride on a bike for maybe 30 seconds or so. talk about morons ?

I got keyed too. I didn't even bother to re-paint it. at least not now. I'm going to do a complete make over when I have the time (and $$$ lol)

I see well I went to a couple shops today to try and figure out pricing I also filed a claim with my insurance I have full comprehensive coverage. At the end of filing my claim it said that they would do an estimate and that I could just take a check for the damages, Which sounds tempting. But i am thinking blue or Shinka Black Cherry if that's possible

Wallets 06-10-2011 09:32 PM

Has anyone filed with progressive for a vandalism claim i have looked and some people say they dont cover the full amount and some say the do any advice would be great.... It goes from bumper to bumper Fyi :(

Novoken 06-10-2011 09:35 PM

I would advise him to paint the whole thing. I hate half painting cars because there is almost ALWAYS over spray. Then it could possibly not match depending on the skill of the painter and the fade of the paint. To much hassle. Or atleast that's my experience with half painted cars.

Wallets 06-10-2011 10:08 PM

Yeah i am looking at getting the whole car painted besides the "deep" parts of the engine bay for 3800

Wallets 06-10-2011 10:11 PM

I plan on putting my car cover on every night

Painting isn't to bad. You just need to make sure they can buff. The guy that done mine has spots to the metal, and some spots burnt.

Wallets 06-10-2011 10:52 PM

what do you mean by spots burnt and to the metal?

Roidz 06-11-2011 12:33 AM

Damn. What's wrong with people? Sorry to hear man.

Greyfixer 06-11-2011 01:24 AM

That sucks dude. I had my car keyed a few months ago. I was able to buff most of it out but you can still see it if you really look for it. :/

Wallets 06-11-2011 12:06 PM

LOL you guys are ridiculous i can't post pictures of my 8 all scratched up that would be embarrassing it goes from the headlights to tail lights on both sides..... I will show pics when i get home tonight I am thinking of getting a midnight blue color or a shade lighter what do you think????

Wallets 06-11-2011 12:08 PM

as far as buffing it was a no go i took it to the body shop and he said i would have to get each quarter panel that was keyed (razor bladed) repainted because the paint wouldnt be flush in that area and you would be able to tell by lookinga t different angles.
