Key sticks in ignition?

Hey boys and girls... I've got a weird issue with my key sticking in the ignition. When I fire 'er up and drive around, then shut down and go to pull my key out, I can't seem to turn if that final counter-clickwise turn to pull the key out, sometimes I have to giggle it back and forth a little before it will come out. Does anyone else have this issue, or am I an oddity?

If it's a manual, you have to push the key towards the steering wheel. It's a safety feature like in some domestic cars where you have to puch a button to remove the key. Ithink it's government mandated on manual cars.
If that's not it maybe your key is bent. Check your other key and see if that one works.

If the cars is an AT, make sure the shifter is all the way in Park. If it's not AT, then I dunno :)

8is>enuff is correct, you need to push in on the key in order to get it to turn all the way back to lock and remove the key. It is also correct that most domestic cars have a little lever you push to eject the key, although many are switching to a similar "push and turn" to unlock system. My WRX had the same thing, so it is second nature to me. I did have the 8 give me a problem once the third day I had it, my wheel was not completely straight and I had to apply a little pressure to the wheel in order to get the key to cooperate, so try to make sure the wheel is centered before you shut her down.

Yes, it's a manual, and yes I know to push it in. But my point is that even though I push it in, some days it just won't turn unless I repatedly push and turn back and forth a few times...

id check to see if the key is bent, as others have stated. Id also check to see if your other keys, spare and valet, do the same thing.

Could be a bad cut on the key. If all the above doesnt give you an awnser....go to the dealer maby they can recut a key or rekey the car

I have the same problem and am planning on bringing it up at my next service appointment. When I try to remove the key, I turn it counter clockwise and also push it in. Many times it hangs up at the last 1/8th turn, as though I wasn't pushing it in enough. It might need a new ignition switch.
